Let's Go and See This Thing That Has Happened First B Jackson 2024-12-08 Automatically transcribed. Where this and the recording disagree, the recording is the record. ---- Good morning, everybody. How are we? It is very, very good to see you. And would you stand with us? And I'd love to sing together and worship together in this second Sunday of Advent. Got an encouraging word from Luke two to lead us in worship. It says, after hearing the birth announcement from the angels, the shepherds, they said to one another, let's go and let's see this thing that's happened. So whatever it always strikes me that they heard the good news, but more importantly, they went to see it for themselves. And I and I think that's important for us, that we hear the good news, but we must see it for ourselves, must experience it for ourselves. So would you join us in singing angels we have heard on high. This thing on. Can you hear me now? There you are. Well, welcome and glad that y'all are here. What's happening, Carl? We're on tomorrow for a one. It's crazy hair day. Crazy? Crazy hair night, and I wanna see the craziest hair you've ever had. Carl showed up in costume at about 07:00 this morning. You you don't wanna miss crazy hair night. Crazy hair night at Awana. So I wanna see you tomorrow night. Kids club starting right here. It's 05:45. We'll gather around 06:00 right here and we'll spread out all over the whole church. Kids matter to God. So that is why we do Iwana. Get scripture in their minds to reach their hearts and it works. God's word does do the work. This is an announcement for women's luncheon that's happening this week on Wednesday. Snow King Resort Ballroom, it'll happen. Lissa Hunter will be leading a band of folks, of us, of a lot of us. Yeah. We're gonna be playing. Some of us are gonna be playing. Deborah Buckingham will be delivering the message. But if you have not already RSVP'd, please, you're probably late. Anyway, try it again. Alright. Try it. It says we're r s b p'd by December 4, I think that's passed. But the eleventh is when it's happening. Wednesday up at the Snow King Ballroom from twelve to two. Buzzer Breath Chili Cook Off is a Christmas tradition around here. It goes along with caroling. Doesn't it sound like it goes together? The caroling out on the out in the streets of Jackson will start here at 04:30 in the afternoon, and we will wander around town, and we will sing songs of the season, singing Christmas songs. And then coming back here, we'll do the Buzzard Breath Chili Cook Off. It is a competition, by the way, and there are lots of different prizes for lots of different categories. If you want to know more about that, you can talk to Nick, who's back there in the back. But bringing a special chili along would be wonderful. That's happening. For the angel tree this year, there are tags out there on the tree and there were some last week, but there are lot more this week. I think there are 20 so families, 22 families this year. And Tanya is the one that's administrating that, my wife. She does a great job with it. That's her phone number. If you want to call her or text her to ask her questions, you're welcome to do that. But the tags are fairly self explanatory and there's a sticker on the back saying what to do with the gifts once you've gotten them. So that's happened in Angel Tree. The Good Samaritan Mission. We just saw this this week and we are we work in conjunction with the Good Samaritan Mission quite a bit and more recently. The administration over there right now specifically listed some needs for some specific winter clothing for some food and cleaning items. There is a list on our website of what they need. If you need to know more about that, again, talk to Nick. He would be glad to help out. But he's going to read what's on the back of their bulletin. Right? Yeah. So that's it. Good Samaritan. This thing's not clicking, Jeff. So the next one we have, we have quite a few announcements right now. Discovery class. Normally, that's on the third Sunday of the month. We're not going to do it on the third Sunday this month. We'll do it on the fourth Sunday in my office between services. We actually have a special congregational meeting that's happening December 15. So, that's next week to vote on vote on.
