In one paragraph

On this last Sunday of 2025, Pastor A brought a message from Hebrews 13, stepping away from the ongoing minor prophets series to close the year with a word about staying grounded in the gospel. The practical section of Hebrews 13 framed a call to love one another, show hospitality, remember prisoners, hold marriage in honor, and rest in contentment rather than financial fear. The heart of the...

  3. Matthew 24:4-5 Jesus warning that many will come claiming to be the Christ and will deceive many
  4. Acts 20:29-30 Paul warning that savage wolves will come in and men will rise up to distort the truth to draw disciples after them
  5. Romans 16:17 urging believers to watch those who cause dissensions contrary to sound teaching and turn away from them
  6. 2 Corinthians 11:12-15 Paul warning about false apostles and deceitful workers disguising themselves as apostles of Christ, noting Satan disguises himself as an angel of light
  7. Galatians 1:6-9 Paul amazed that believers are deserting the gospel for a different gospel, pronouncing a curse on anyone preaching a contrary gospel
  8. Ephesians 4:14 warning against being children tossed by waves and carried by every wind of doctrine through trickery and deceitful scheming
  9. Ephesians 5:6-7 warning to let no one deceive with empty words and not to be partakers with those who bring God's wrath
  10. Colossians 2:4 warning that no one delude believers with persuasive arguments

  17. Jude 3-4 appeal to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints, warning of ungodly persons who crept in and deny Jesus Christ
  18. Jude 12 describing false teachers as hidden reefs in the love feast, clouds without water, autumn trees without fruit
  19. Psalm 50:12-15 God saying the world is His and calling for a sacrifice of thanksgiving, referenced alongside the story of the woman who brought roses
  20. Hebrews 11:10 reference to Abraham looking for a city whose architect and builder is God

Talk about it

  1. Pastor Adam talked about contentment, quoting the line 'I will never desert you nor will I ever forsake you' and referencing Paul's statement about learning to be content in any circumstance. Where in your own life right now is contentment the hardest thing to hold onto, and what does trusting God actually look like in that specific situation?
  2. The sermon walked through a long list of New Testament warnings about being carried away by varied and strange teachings, including the idea of confirmation bias, hearing only what we want to hear. Can you think of a time when you realized you were reading Scripture through what you already believed rather than letting it challenge you? What shifted that for you?
  3. Pastor Adam described the woman who brought roses to the church simply to thank God for rescuing her from a desperate situation, with no audience in mind. What does that kind of response to God's help look like in your own life, and what gets in the way of it?
  4. The sermon pointed to Jesus suffering 'outside the gate' and called the church to go outside the camp with Him, willing to follow Jesus in unconventional or even costly ways. What would going outside the camp actually look like for you personally in the coming year?
  5. Pastor Adam closed by framing the whole sermon around a simple phrase he said was still his testimony: 'Jesus, man.' How would you describe what has changed in your own life because of Jesus, and is that still the center of how you talk about your faith with others?
