0:00
It got quiet. You guys must be ready to start. Hey. Why don't we stand up? We serve a holy God.
0:06
Yes? Amen.
0:07
Let's sing of his holiness. Let's pray together. God, we acknowledge right here off the bat that you are the holy living God. So, we wanna give ourselves to you this morning. I pray if there's any distractions here in our lives, we would give them to you.
3:03
We lay our sin at your feet. We're thankful for grace, for your mercy, for your forgiveness, for your love. It endures forever. Amen. You may be seated.
3:14
Amen. I have a a few announcements this morning. Very plain, generic announcements. No. Actually, they're not.
3:22
It's farewell to Gavin Morley. Some of y'all know everybody here comes in for a while. They leave for a while. You know, they come back for a while. That's the way it is.
3:31
That's the nature of living here but Gavin is heading out. If you don't know him, he's the guy that's my height but much bigger. Big guy, Gavin and he is heading out this week and he's heading out after Monday nights at First B which this week are not at First B. They're at Philbo. Right over there, Philbo Park, that's the stone right there in Snow King Center is behind it.
3:53
So, that's where it's going to be tomorrow night at 06:15 and it is potluck night because it's the first Monday night of the month. So, Monday nights at Philbo, 06:15 Potluck. There's also this week, these are the announcements for this week. Sue Rogers passed away and there's a memorial service for her at 4PM on Friday, August 8 and that's at Community Bible Church. If you want to know more information about that, you can call CBC and they'll know more about it.
4:24
There's also a benefit that's happening for Donna Smithers. I don't know Donna Smithers but how many of y'all do? Yeah, that's what I thought. There are tons of y'all that know about it and they let us know that Donna is she has brain cancer and they are doing a spaghetti supper and a silent auction at the Elks Lodge, Saturday, next Saturday at 06:30 in the evenings. So, they're doing tickets but I think they're also accepting donations in those places.
4:51
Boyers, Indian R, Triplis Vacuum Center, and at the door but call Lexi Boyer if you like more information or you can look in your bulletin and there's a little more information in there. So, it's a spaghetti supper and silent auction. And be praying for Donna and for her husband, Bill. Habitat for Humanity. The first B team is going out.
5:12
Now, if you don't know who the first Bert B team is and you're wondering, it might be you. It's open to anybody who wants to go. We're doing our build on August fourteenth and sixteenth and we've always been favorable to towards Habitat for Humanity but I don't know that we've ever as a group, as a first B group gone together and done this. Tanya and I have been on-site a few times at different locations in the world but we are doing this August fourteenth and sixteenth. So, reschedule from earlier in the summer.
5:41
So, please, please, please sign up. We would love to have. Renzi is going have the high school group as many as he can get out there but we'd love to have men and women. You cannot be younger than 16. They don't allow any kids on-site.
5:54
So, that's going to be different for me. I'm used to having the little squinklies and cement and all that stuff when we were down in Mexico but first B team build days, August fourteenth and sixteenth. Please sign up. Please sign up. And let's see.
6:09
That's an empty slide. Baptisms this morning. If y'all know if I'm up here in flip flops and shorts, flip flops, maybe not but flip flops and shorts means we're going to do baptism and so, I'm going to invite Dan, Tolleson, and Ellie up right now.
6:23
You asked us a while ago if you could be baptized without our asking you. Can you tell us why you wanna be baptized?
6:30
Because I wanted everybody to know that I trust in the Lord Jesus.
6:38
Amen. And you wrote it down, right? You drew a picture?
6:42
Y'all see that picture? I trust in Jesus, lord, because he died and rose again and he is living in heaven preparing a stall for us to live in. She is
6:58
You like horses, don't you?
7:01
She's a big horse lover, but I tell you what, stall is a much better translation than mansion. It really is. Very good.
7:10
So, you believe that Jesus died for your sins and by believing in him, you can spend eternity in heaven and your sins are forgiven?
7:18
Okay. Amen.
7:20
Upon profession of your faith, I hereby baptize you in the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit.
7:28
Amen. The Bible says, you must come as a child with childlike faith. Amen. Thank you. Dan and Ellie and I'm going to invite up Blake Morley.
7:52
No relation to Gavin. Blake, the highlight of my week is Wednesdays about noon. Blake and Carl and I get together and talk and do you have anything you want to say? No. I think what you're saying is what you're saying here.
8:12
So, let me take this other mic off. Just like Ellie's picture up there, this is what Blake said. Sorry, Renzi, can you get to that? Colossians three, a while back, Blake has been coming around by the godly example of people that live in his life that are influences on him. They've they've been an actual godly example and he recognizes that and he when he started to be drawn and felt like God was drawing him in, he started reading the Bible and getting to know him better and better and seeing that he loved him and reading the sermon on the mount.
8:52
He said, I would like to start every day like this but the sermon on the mount is just so long. And he said, starting every day with that and recently, he read through and he hit Colossians three and he said, this, this is what I'm going to read every morning. This is where I'm going to live my life and so, a proclamation and baptism is really a lot like Colossians three. So, Imma read it. If then, you have been raised with Christ when we bury with Christ.
9:19
It's a symbol of being buried with Christ and then raised. If then, you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hid with Christ and God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
9:43
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you, fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness which is idolatry. On account of these, the wrath of God is coming. In these, you once walked when you lived in them but now, put a put them away. Anger, wrath, malice, slander, and all the foul talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices and have put on the new nature which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
10:15
Here, there cannot be Greek and Jews circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all and in all. Put on then as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, loneliness, meekness, and patience, for bearing one another, and if one has complained against another, forgiving each other. As the Lord has forgiven you. So you also must forgive. And above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
10:47
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts to which indeed you are called in the into one body and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your heart to God. And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus. Giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen.
11:13
What a life verse passage. We're going to step in and I'm going to baptize this brother. One more image I wanted to have up there was one of a little card that goes in the seat back in front of you, you know? The little I wish cards. I went to a church one time.
11:49
It's a little blue card and it said, I wish and it had that the pastor would visit or that an elder would visit or I wish to know more about salvation and at the very bottom, it had a lines that you could fill in your own and that was the X mark and it said, I wish and it said, we would sit down and remain seated. And I thought that was hilarious. I could not actually find the card this morning but as you are here this morning, please try your best to feel comfortable, alright? They're going to sing this one through and I think there are no words on the screen for this one. You do have words, finally.
12:23
Alright. So, sing if you will but you can you can stand if you want, sit if you want, feel comfortable doing what it is you do. Okay? I'm gonna go change clothes.
12:37
Alright. This was a request from little Ellie who got baptized at the beginning. It's about faith. Just standing and walking on water with Jesus. You might know it.
12:51
Sing it with us. Sing it to the Lord. Spirit lead us. You can even close your eyes if you want. Amen.
17:23
Praise the Lord. You may be seated.
17:25
Yes, let's do that. Why don't we stand up together again? Hey, we're just testing you. Okay? And, take a minute just to say hi to the people around you.
17:36
Greet them warmly.
17:38
Alright. Usually, we welcome you back together with a song. If I can get your attention, we're gonna welcome you back together with a Psalm, which is a song but this Psalm is from 01/2007. Psalm 107, we're going to go through three sections of it. It's long.
17:54
If you picked up a bulletin, it's really long because there are no numbers and it's just paragraph form and it's really long but we're going to do just three sections out of this Psalm this morning. Introduce songs between and we're going to speak to one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. The first verse Psalm 107 says, oh give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his mercy, or his loving kindness endures forever. I love that. Y'all know it.
18:20
We've had that refrain. His love and kindness endures forever from Psalm one thirty six but this second verse, I think of it every time we do baptism. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. Amen. If you're redeemed of the Lord, you should be saying so and the first way to do that in obedience to our lord and savior is to be baptized.
18:42
So, for Ellie and for Blake, this is a great step forward of obedience. So, let the redeemed of the Lord say so and they have. Whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy because we do have an enemy and he's gathered them out of the lands from the East and from the West and from the North and from the South. Who's in here from the East? Who's in here from the West?
19:02
Who's in here from the North? And the southerners all, whoop whoop. Yes, we're all here. So, that's why he's gathered us all in and we're here to praise him. So, praise along with us.
19:13
Amen.
19:18
Alright, give thanks to the Lord.
19:21
Give thanks to the Lord. Our God king. His love endures forever. For he's good, he's above all things. And Formver, God is with us forever.
20:32
Forever. Forever. Rising to rising to the setting sun because love endures forever. Praising God we wouldn't care beyond because love endures forever. For whatever God is faithful.
21:15
For whatever God is strong. For whatever God is with us forever. Forever. And forever God is faithful. Forever God is strong.
21:35
Forever God is with us forever. Forever. Forever.
21:59
I've got a little bit. Y'all can sit down for just a second. We'll give you a break. So, the twenty third verse of Psalm 107 says, those who go down to the sea and ships who do business on great waters, they see the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep. I want to mention something right here between these.
22:20
Tanya and I, y'all, most of y'all know that we were art students before we were ministers way before and we went on a trip to Italy while we were in school and we were coming back from Italy. We had a certain amount of time to get back to London and so we took across all of Europe and we got to Ostend, Belgium, spent the night, and got scabies anyway at a hostel. If you know what scabies is, that's horrible but it it was going from there across the English Channel and we saw that the cheapest, easiest, and fastest way which don't normally coincide was a hovercraft. Hovercraft. Have never been on a hovercraft.
22:59
Why not? And so we got on this hovercraft in Oston, Belgium and we took off headed towards Dover, England and when we did, we got out in the middle of the English Channel which is not all that wide. It doesn't seem but have you all ever seen the sky turn green in the south when the sky turns green? It means a tornado is coming. Well, the sky turned green and then we noticed that looking out this side, all we saw was water and out this side, all we saw was green sky.
23:26
Green water on this side, green sky on this side and we were starting to pitch in y'all pretty bad and I thought, oh, I don't really like this. I looked over at Tanya. She said, this is fun. She was having a ball and as we were getting ready, it start to get a little more treacherous, darker green, darker green, and we're out there and I'm thinking, this is not good. This is a squall.
23:53
It's rising up and we're on a hovercraft. It's not even a boat. This is floating above the water and it was scary to me and then I saw what would be the equivalent of a stewardess or a flight attendant. They sat down. They buckled themselves in and then they started crossing themselves.
24:07
I thought, this is not normal. What we were looking forward to is seeing the Cliffs Of Dover on the other side of that channel and we were not seeing anything. It was very very dark and scary and then, it broke and we saw those cliffs at Dover and we got on through and it was gorgeous to see landfall. It was wonderful but I was thinking, when they were sitting down and crossing themselves, I know that's a symbolic act but I was calling on the name of the Lord and to see that he is the one who delivers. He's the one who raises up the storm but he's also one who calms it with his voice.
24:39
So, I want to mention this, for he commands and raises the stormy wind which lifts up the waves of the sea. They mount up to the heavens. They go down again to the depths. Their soul melts because of trouble. They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man and they're at their wit's end.
24:58
Then, they cry out to the Lord in their trouble and he brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm so that its waves are still. Then, they are glad because they are quiet. So, he guides them to their desired haven. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men.
25:17
Let them exalt him also in the assembly. That's what we're doing. Right here, we are assembled. Let him exalt them, him also in the assembly of the people and praise him in the company of elders. That's great.
25:29
It's Old Testament. So, we're we're probably thinking it's talking about Israel. It's a Psalm of David. He's talking about Israel but look at this, the next thing, Renzy. On the same day, this is Jesus.
25:40
This is from Jesus speaking. On the same day, when the evening had come, he said to them, let us cross over to the other side. Now, when they had left the multitude, he took them along in the boat as he was and other little boats were also with him and a great wind storm arose and the waves beat into the boat so that it was already filling but he was in the stern, asleep on a pillow and they awoke him and said to him, teacher, do you not care that we are perishing? Then he arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm, but he said to them, why are you so fearful?
26:19
How is it that you have no faith? And they feared exceedingly and said to one another, who can this be that even the wind and the sea obey him? Psalms tells us who that is. It's pointing towards the one who can calm the sea and the storm in your life with his voice. Would you stand together and we'll sing enough.
27:01
And trembles at his voice, trembles at his voice. Let's sing how great, how great is our God. Sing me, I'll pray
29:40
Psalm one hundred seven thirty nine through 43 says, when they are diminished and brought low through oppression and affliction and sorrow, he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in the wilderness where there is no way. Yet, he sets the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes their families like a flock. The righteous see it and rejoice and all iniquity stops its mouth. Whoever is wise will observe these things and they will understand the loving kindness of the Lord. I don't have anything more to add to that.
30:19
Amen. That that's the way that God is. Would you stand?
30:23
Stand up again if you like to.
32:39
Savior, He can move on mountains. My God is mighty to save. He is mighty to save forever.
33:44
You can be seated again. Oh, it's just up, down, up, down. The frontline team has come forward here and we're at the partner service where we can participate here in the worship of giving. And it really is a privilege, and I I often say that and I I think of it this way that that the worship of giving really is kind of this minus this. It it's an it's an open hand to God.
34:06
It's saying, God, you know, you have given to us, and we are thankful, and so so we give back. What we've been given, we acknowledge that it comes from you, our creator, and you're a sustainer, and so we give back. And so I I invite you to participate here in the worship venue. If you can't, that's fine. It really is.
34:24
But it's here, and it's a part of this worship gathering, and, let's pray together. God, we do give you thanks. You have given all things. You've given us life and breath and meaning and purpose. And and more than that, God, you've given us your son so that through faith in him, we have peace with God.
34:47
We are right with God. We are justified. And how wonderful that is. What a gift that is. And so we want to pause.
34:56
We want to give you thanks and praise. Amen.
40:51
I don't know if while I was downstairs changing clothes, they introduced her or not. This is Downey, Dancey's sister, Ellie's aunt, more importantly today. Thank you for singing along and for helping out and leading. We are going to go into a time right now. I'm going invite the elders.
41:06
Last time we did this, I invited the frontline team and confused everybody. I'm going invite the elders to come forward and we're going go into a time of the Lord's supper which is also extended praise of God that we can partake. We practice an open table, open communion. For any of you who have put your faith in Jesus Christ, you're welcome to partake and do it in remembrance of him. So, I'm going ask a blessing and then distribute, y'all can distribute the bread.
41:38
Lord God, thank you that you lived a perfect life, worthy of praise, lord and that you sacrificially your perfect life in our stead. Your broken body, lord, we remember today. You did not deserve it but you took a death that you did not deserve so that we may live a life that we don't. In Jesus name, amen.
42:01
And I'd invite you to to sing with us on this one if you were.
42:06
Became sick no sin Thank you, Jesus. You're ransom from heaven. Jesus, Messiah. Rescue for sinners, the ransom from heaven. Jesus Messiah, Lord of all.
44:36
We're saying our hope is in him.
44:41
Not I hope You're the name above all name. Blessed redeemer, a man you will rescue for sinners, ransom from hell on Jesus messiah lord of
45:49
and Jesus took the bread after supper and he said, this is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Lord God, thank you for your broken body. But Isaiah forecasted a thousand years ahead of time, lord, that your blood would be what cleanses us, though our sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. So, lord, would you please bless this cup, the symbol of your blood as we take it in.
46:15
Lord, may we feel connected to you. We know that we are but lord, we want to sense your presence. In Jesus name, thank you. Amen.
50:37
And
50:48
in the same way that he took the bread, he took the cup after supper and he said, this is the new covenant in my blood. Take this and do it. As often as you will in remembrance of me. Amen. And in this way, the scripture says, we proclaim his death until he comes.
51:08
Now, would you stand with us and we're going to sing what amounts to a creedal statement. Basically, would you stand up and we're going to sing that and then we'll end with the doxology.
51:22
We believe in God father we believe in Jesus Christ we believe in Holy Spirit and he's given us to lie. Believe in the crucifixion. We believe that he conquered death. We believe in resurrection, Now he's coming back again. We believe.
51:53
Let's sing that again. Okay?
51:55
We believe in God, father. We believe in Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit. And gonna resurrection. Spirit.
52:18
God is we're coming back in again. We believe. We believe. Praise God from moon more blessings flow praise him all creatures here be lord praise him above the heavenly host priest father son and holy
53:16
Jude twenty four and twenty five says, now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. To God, our savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion, and power both now and forevermore. Amen.
