0:01
Good morning, everybody. How are you? Doing alright? Isn't it pretty outside? Yes.
0:07
Well, welcome welcome to Wyoming if the weather didn't do that for you yesterday. I'm glad glad y'all are here. If you would, stand up. I'm gonna invite Scott just as soon as he sits down. I'm gonna invite him back up here.
0:19
We're gonna stand over so we don't disturb. We're gonna have a play this morning in a little bit, but we're gonna do our regular song service, and so we're gonna stand over here with Judy at the piano. But would you sing out like you mean it? In my heart, there rings a melody.
0:39
I have a song that Jesus gave me it was sent from heaven above there never was a sweeter melody
2:18
Amen. Y'all sound good from this corner over here. Since since Jesus came into my heart at number five zero three.
2:43
Lied in my soul for which long I had sought since Jesus came into my heart since I have ceased from my wandering and going astray since Jesus came into my heart and my sins which were many are all washed away since Jesus came into my heart since came into heart since Jesus came into my heart floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea villa since Jesus came into my heart I shall go there to dwell in that city I know since Jesus came into my heart and I'm happy so happy as onward I go since Jesus came into my Jesus came into Jesus came into my heart bloods of joy on my soul like the sea billows roar. Jesus came into my heart. Amen. Amen. Y'all can have a seat.
4:38
Have a few announcements. Monday nights at First B is on this week. Carl, have you figured out what we're eating this
4:44
week? Alright.
4:50
When you're here, you're family. So, it goes. Monday nights is meal, music, and a message every Monday night and so songs and Psalms. Carl's a worship leader here at the 09:00 service and leads on acoustic guitar and the band plays with him and we're going to be playing tomorrow night. Psalm 34 is one of em and maybe a few others but songs and Psalms from a guy whose heart is stirred and moved by music.
5:14
Monday nights at First B is a good place to be. Vacation Bible School is June 24 through the twenty eighth. That's coming really really quickly. It is June 9 no matter what the snow in your yard said this morning. It's coming.
5:29
June 24 to the twenty eighth, nine in the morning until twelve noon and if you are if you are wanting to volunteer, there's still some places I'm sure that we could use you and if you have kids that you know around Jackson, please encourage them to come. June twenty fourth to twenty eight, Jesus saves the world, Miraculous Mission Vacation Bible School. There was a meeting between services. If you missed it, we'll catch you up on that. Immigrant Hope is collecting shoes.
5:57
It's a fundraiser and it's per pound of shoes but they figure they need 25,000 pairs to reach the goal that they want. That's a lot of shoes. I'm glad that they're not storing em in my house. We are transferring em from transferring them from the office here to Ken and Lori McHughes place and they are trying to raise 25,000 pairs of new or slightly gently used shoes and that's happening. So bring em to us and we'll get them to them.
6:23
The Liberator and Original Courtroom Drama is happening today, right after the song service. We'll go into that. I'll invite, the players in the play. It was a play that was written by one of us and it's acted in by some of us and it's directed by one of us. It's pretty pretty old, neat, and awesome and it goes, it dovetails very nicely with where we are in scripture right now and so here we go forward.
6:48
We have a stateside mission trip. A lot of y'all say, I'd love to go on some of those trips but but I I can't really get away that far away for that long or I don't have a passport. Well, you got a passport to get to Gillette, right? So, Gillette, Wyoming. We're going there.
7:03
July 10 through the thirteenth. Gary Geek is the guy in charge but I know a little about it. Gary knows more about it and we are going to go up. Scott Eichen who used to be the associate pastor here. Scott and Pam are going there to replant a church in Gillette.
7:18
They already have a building. It's somewhat dated and needs a little bit of sprucing up. We're going to go help do the sprucing up, alright? So, if you want to be a part of that, please let us know. July 10 through the thirteenth, riding up in the church van and as many other vehicles as we need to get there and do the work and come on back on Saturday.
7:37
So that's that. If you missed a message, they're available on the internet. Firstbjackson.org is our website and we have a Facebook page too if you want to go back to that. Connect hour for this service, y'all might just get here at eleven and think, wow, this is there's still a lot of hullabaloo going on. The hullabaloo that's going on is because people go down there and eat coffee and donuts and they're still here when you get here but they're we're connecting the services so that we stay one church even though we're divided into three services, you know, but here they are.
8:06
For all other announcements, please look at your bulletins. If you didn't get a paper bulletin on the way in, there should be some right on the table out there on your way out and get it and then see what's going on this week. It also has prayer request and that sort of thing in there. Am I missing anything? Good.
8:21
Alright. Would you all stand then and greet one another? And we will bring you back together with As the Deer. Freely, freely. Number 436.
11:04
God forgave my sin Jesus name I've been born again in Jesus name and in Jesus name I come to you Amen.
12:51
Y'all can have a seat. I'll invite the frontline team to come forward though. Would y'all pray with me? God almighty, we thank you for your love and for your patience for your mercy, for your grace, and lord, we want to be good stewards of that mercy and grace. We want to extend it to other people, lord.
13:16
We long to do your will. So, in Jesus name, lord, I come to you asking the whole, we freely received and now, lord, we freely give. That is of our time, of our talents, of our words. It's also of our resources that you've given us, lord. So, right now, we come to the time of offering and we ask that you would take whatever goes in these plates, lord, and you would allow us to steward it well but we pray that you would bless it, lord, that you would do like you did with the loaves and the fish and that you would take what goes in and you would amplify it and there would be your work would be being done with it.
13:57
Lord, I pray that we would help ease temporal suffering and that we would accompany that easing of suffering with an eternal message of life. Lord, I pray that we would never divorce social justice from the word of God and lord that we would advance your kingdom by your word, by your spirit as you will in your way. May we be doing. Jesus name, amen. So, without any other further ado, thank you Judy, I'm gonna invite up the cast of The Liberator.
18:33
Be seated. The court of law is now in session. Baylor, please bring in our first offender. Little Miss Gossip. Miss Gossip, you have been charged with slander.
19:18
It has been said that you have been spreading lies about your friends. What do you have to say for yourself?
19:26
Yes, your honor. I understand that is the charge. I feel it's a bit severe to bring me before the jury for such a small crime.
19:39
Miss Gossip, did you commit the crime as stated or are you innocent?
19:44
Well, yes, I did. I mean, who hasn't let a few words get away from them. Right?
19:55
Your honor. This behavior must not go on. I say we throw the book at little miss gossip.
20:12
Throw the book? Really? That's the weirdest sentence I have ever heard. But I guess it beats jail time.
20:28
No, miss gossip. It's an expression. It mean never mind.
20:36
Bayla.
20:39
Jury, please read the verdict in
20:41
this case.
20:49
Bailiff, take her away. The sentencing will be read at another time. I will now read the charges brought before me today against the second defendant, a mister I am lost, criminal endangerment, two counts of assault and battery, and felony possession of class three narcotics. The jury has deliberated. Would you please read the verdict?
21:48
Mister Lost, you have been found guilty. Is there anything you would like to say prior to your sentencing?
21:57
Yes, your honor. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, January twentieth of last year was the worst day of my life. I've been living out of my car for several weeks, and my family was running away from me. The only thing getting me through each day was the thought of my next fix and seeing my children again. But I knew that with each high that that dream was farther and farther away.
22:49
But I couldn't stop. I was drowning in my sorrow, my pain, my self hatred. That night, I I called my dealer to meet up with him, and I was already out of my mind driving like a maniac, almost hitting several people. When I pulled into the parking lot that night to beat my dealer, I I saw that he wasn't there, and I started to lose my mind looking for my phone to to call him. I I looked in the glove box.
23:30
I couldn't find it, so I I started tearing apart my car. But I realized it wasn't there. I'm I'm told I attacked a man and and demanded that he let me use his phone. Of course, he didn't have the number I needed, but when he refused, I I threw him to the ground and pummeled him with my fists. When another man came to help, I'm I'm told I did the same to him, throwing him to the ground and and beating him mercilessly.
24:02
The police came. They they dragged me off and locked me up, and rightfully so. But ever since that day, your honor, I feel like I'm so close to finding out some sort of truth, something. Can't figure it out. Crawling on my hands and knees.
24:32
I I'm drowning, and I need help. Need help.
24:47
Mr. Lost, while I certainly feel sympathy for your plight, it is clear that you are guilty of all these offenses. When a man commits a crime, such as you have done, he must pay for those crimes. It is the law, and we are bound to it. Bailiff, please bring in miss Gossip, and we will continue with the sentence.
25:40
Miss Gossip, mister Lost, I understand that you've committed vastly different crimes, but you are both guilty. The law dictates that the punishment should fit the crime. The wages of sin is death, and I sentence No. To death. Wait.
26:06
What is this? Who are you? Get out of my courtroom.
26:10
Hear me out for a moment. Caleb? This will only take a second. I've come to take these people's place. I will pay their penalty.
26:23
You will what? Who who do you think you are?
26:27
I am he. Jesus. As Isaiah fifty three five and six prophesies. But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities, and the punishment that bought us peace was on him.
26:47
And by his wounds, we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray. Each of us have turned to our own way, and the Lord laid on him the iniquity of us all. Your honor, since I will pay for their crimes, may I please speak to the defendants alone?
27:15
Well, this is quite unheard of, but I suppose. Jury?
27:34
What do you mean you take my place? Didn't you hear the jury? I'm guilty. I did all those things and lots of terrible things. I deserve what I get.
27:45
I don't think you understand. I know both of you did exactly what they said. I'm not saying you're not guilty. What I'm saying is, I will take your place because I love you. God so so loved the world, he sent his only son that whoever believes in him might have eternal life.
28:14
I didn't come here to help everyone who's got it squared away. I came to help those who are lost and I've realized they're at the end of themselves.
28:26
I I don't deserve this. How can I thank
28:30
you? Me too.
28:32
By loving my father and everyone. This is what I ask. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved. I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the father except through me.
28:47
Remember what I've done for you today, and take that love with you to each and everyone you see. If you accept my gift, your lives will be changed because of me. Do you accept my gift?
29:06
I accept this gift and will follow your commandments.
29:10
I accept.
29:51
Well, you all. All of Set, props, actors, director, writer, all of that together. Thank you for doing that. I appreciate you. It goes right along with what we've been saying.
30:06
If for those of you who've been here week after week for the past few weeks, judgement has been a continuous theme for about the last three or four sermons because we're in second Peter. We're in second Peter two. We're up to second Peter three now and judgement looms. For those two that were proclaimed guilty, they're guilty and their judgment was looming. It was not sleeping.
30:27
It was just awaiting the appropriate time and so we hit that last week in scripture and the week before and this week, we're up to second Peter three nine. I ended with three nine last week and this is it. It says, the Lord is not slow or slack. Some translations say slack. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness.
30:49
The time between being judged as guilty and the sentencing takes as long as it takes. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promises. Some understand slowness. You know, there are a lot of people that were saying, where is this coming he's talking about? He's been talking the end forever.
31:08
Y'all have been talking about this for a long time and it's just not coming. Everything's continued just like it was since the beginning. Well, the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise. If he tarries, if it takes longer, he has promised. It's coming.
31:21
There's no doubt. Peter's assuring us that judgment is coming. But he instead is patient with you. He's not wanting that anyone should perish. You just heard Jesus quoting for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
31:46
He's not wanting that anyone perishes. So, made a way. Now, it is the way. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the father except by me. I know that the exclusivity of the gospel is disturbing for our society and it may be for our whole wide world right now.
32:06
Nevertheless, it's true and the Lord is not slack in keeping his promise. He said that all have sinned fall short of the glory of God and all sins. You saw a little miss gossip minimizing her little sin and then mister I am lost was accepting that he was actually guilty for his sin. James says, if you air an even one point of the law, you've broken the whole thing. But God is not wanting that anyone would perish.
32:39
He takes no pleasure in it at all. So he has made a way so that everyone would come to repentance. He's not wanting anyone to perish but for everyone to come to repentance. Does that mean that everyone will come to repentance? It doesn't.
32:57
And there's no such thing as neutrality in this. You are either declared guilty or you are declared to be righteous, innocent, right? There are those two paths and you can't just hold on neutral. You can't stick on the fence. You are either lost or you are found, one or the other.
33:19
What he wants is that we would come to repentance. What he has made provision for and a way for is that we would repent. A change of mind. Now, we all start off in the guilty camp. That's hard for us as Americans because everyone's innocent until they're proven guilty.
33:35
Well, you're guilty. You start off guilty. You start off originally guilty and as soon as you're old enough to make your own decisions, it just gets worse. You go with that guilt. Distorted lenses from the beginning cause us to look at self as the highest.
33:55
But he's patient, not willing that any should perish or die in those sins but that everyone should come to repentance and repentance is a change of mind. It's a change of mind, a a turning of the mind towards God. He can empower that. He sends his Holy Spirit to convict of sin and to convince of righteousness and to illuminate his word. We go over his word regularly here but you can go over it by yourself too.
34:25
If we go forward from this text and it's pointing out, he he's not slow. What's coming is coming. It's going to happen. No doubt about it. He's patient, not want anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance but the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
34:41
He says, it comes like a thief right here. If it sounds familiar, well, Peter is writing this letter to Christians. He's writing it to Christians but he's quoting after Jesus but know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and he would would not have let his house be broken into. He'd been prepared for this thief. Paul picks up the same thing, theme as Jesus too.
35:07
For you yourselves, you are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. That day of the Lord is what Peter's been talking about regularly. He's been mentioning that until that great and mighty day. There's an incorruptible hope in first Peter that is at that great and mighty day of the Lord. You yourselves, Paul says, are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
35:27
Jesus said so and he will come while people are saying, well, there's peace and security. Everything's fine. Everything's fine just like it always has been. People come, people go but everything's fine. It's just going to be just like it is forever.
35:39
There's peace, there's security, and then, sudden, destruction will come upon them just as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman. Now, pregnant women, most of the time know they're pregnant, right? But they don't know exactly when that baby's coming. You know, there's a building towards that's happening. And then at some point, middle of the night, can't tell when it's gonna be, but when it's gonna be, it's gonna be and it's time, right?
36:06
So, he describes this the same way. Labor pains come upon a pregnant woman and they will not escape from it because it's coming. What's coming is coming. But you're not in darkness, brothers and sisters, for that day, to surprise you like a thief. He's writing to Christians too.
36:23
Revelation sixteen fifteen. This is John's revelation of Jesus speaking to the churches. Behold, I'm coming like a thief. I'm coming when you don't expect it. Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed.
36:39
But the day of lord will come like a thief. And then he goes on to describe what that day is going to be like. It's going to be different. The heavens will disappear with a roar. The elements will be destroyed by fire and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.
36:58
It's gonna be cataclysmic. Big, big, big, big change. And so, since everything here will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? How how should you live your life if that's the case? Now, this is a letter for Christians.
37:13
Now, I I realize that not everybody in here may have chosen, may have put their faith in Christ. I realize that. So, there's an evangelistic element to this too. There is no other way out. I just have to say it.
37:27
With a tear in my eye, I have to say it. There's no other way, no other hope except the way that God made Jesus. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? Is that a rhetorical question? I think it is a rhetorical question.
37:43
Nobody answered me out loud. Must have been. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? He follows it up with the answer. You ought to live holy and godly lives.
37:54
So, the way that you live your life, one of those freely, freely songs that we sang just a minute ago. You've been given a gift freely and you've accepted it freely. What do you do with it? You freely give it to other people. If God has extended to you his love and his mercy and his grace, it's his love and mercy and grace and he gives you the charge to hand it out, to be making an effective call for other people.
38:19
You can do that by living a holy and godly life. Carry the word in your actions and carry the word word in your words. You ought to live holy and godly lives. As you look forward to the day of God and speed is coming, they he just described the day of God and he said that it was going to be that the heavens would disappear with a roar and that the earth would be destroyed by fire and it also says, as you look forward to it, as you look forward to the day and you speed it's coming by spreading the gospel, you speed it's coming. That day, that day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire and the elements will melt in the heat.
39:01
It's not going to be just as it has always been. I don't know when it's coming but I know that it's coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire. The elements will melt in the heat. This is not just Peter that's saying this.
39:14
Jesus has said this. Paul says it to the Corinthians right here. By the grace that God has given me, it was the gospel of grace. That's what he started with everywhere. He went when he went into the new place.
39:27
He went to the synagogue first because they had the Old Testament scriptures and it was pointing towards God and the Old Testament stuff Paul would use because they already believed that and he would shine the light of the New Testament and Christ on it and say, it's a gospel of grace. It has to be received freely. It has to be. It's not bound to your works. By the grace that God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder and someone else is building on it.
39:54
You know, Paul was in Corinth and then when he left, someone else comes in and he says, but each one should build with care. Don't build with anything that's not sound built on the actual gospel of the grace of God through Jesus Christ. No one can lay any foundation other than the one that's already laid which is Jesus. It's really is exclusive. It hits it New Testament wide and Old Testament wide.
40:21
There is the way that God has ordained and Jesus Christ is it. No one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw, their work will be shown for what it is because the day will bring it to light. When it says, everything will be exposed in second Peter three, everything will be exposed. Their work will be shown for what it is because the day will bring it to light.
40:49
It will be revealed with what? Fire. Oh, and that fire will test the quality of each person's work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it's burned up, the builder will suffer loss, but yet will be saved.
41:05
So this is written to Christians too. This is written to people who have already trusted in Christ. It says, even though only as one escaping through the flames, do you want to be just barely there or you believed and you got saved but you haven't acted on it? Second Peter is a call to holiness. This part of Corinthians is a call to holiness and saying, get with the gospel and don't add anything to it.
41:31
Don't take anything away from it but whatever you do that is gospel based, that is sacrificially loving and sacrificially giving and graciously extending love of God to people. That'll survive but all of this that we see is wood, hay, and stubble to be destroyed. In keeping with his promise, we are looking forward. He says it again. As you look forward to the day of God and speed is coming but in keeping with his promise, we, Christians, are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells.
42:11
We're investing in that with our actions and with our lives. Looking forward to that. And then he says, so then dear friends, now he's talking about the destruction of the earth and the heavens altogether, but he then, it's almost like a whack back. Oh, dear friends, beloved ones, agape toy is the word in Greek. Beloved ones, y'all are the dearly beloved.
42:37
Dearly beloved. Check this out. Dearly beloved friends, so then, since you are looking forward to it and Peter is always looking forward to it and I think that in modern day life, you've got within the circle of Christianity, some people who normally are just like, I can't wait for Jesus to get back because it's terrible here. I just can't wait for Jesus to get back. Oh, that he would come today and I feel like we've got another camp that says, lord, would you please hold off just a little longer because there are people that need to come in.
43:07
Please, God, will you extend your grace through me today to somebody? And then, we've got folks the world at large and most of our society is saying, y'all are kind of crazy for believing that the destruction's coming at all. Everything has going on just like it has from the beginning. It's the same stuff that Peter is saying. They were saying then, people are still saying now.
43:32
You might feel like people think you're foolish for believing it. The message of the cross though, the only way, the message of cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but it is the power of God for those who are being saved. So then, dear friends, since you're looking forward to this great and mighty day of the Lord, make every effort. This is like the fourth time he said, make every effort. Three times he said it about them making an effort.
44:01
One time he said it about himself. I'm going to make every effort to remind you of all this stuff. I'm going to remind you and I'm going to write it down so you can be reminded later. So then, my beloved ones, since you are looking forward to this, y'all are believers. Are you believers?
44:15
If you're believers, then, make every effort to be found spotless and blameless and at peace with him. You do that by accepting him. Yes, into your life and you achieve salvation, the avoidance of punishment. It's given by the grace of God and it's a merciful act because what you deserve is death but what he has given is life. As you submit your will to his will, he will clean you up.
44:45
He will. If you're submitting to his will, he will keep you spotless, blameless, and at peace with him and if you should air in little or large ways, his forgiveness is there and available and he will use that in your future. Make every effort to be found spotless. It's a call to holiness for those who believe in Jesus. It's like, don't just live just like the world lives.
45:11
Live differently. Live in the way that Jesus showed you. Did he stand out? He stood out. Should we stand out?
45:18
We should stand out. But we should stand out for our holy conduct, our righteous life, and for gracious words that are seasoned with love. Spotless, blameless, and at peace with him. That's the way I want to live. Spotless, blameless, and at peace with him and you can have that.
45:37
You can have that in Christ but you can have that in Christ alone. It's not just any old thing. I think that's it. I've got a a few more slides, Blake, that I didn't use in the first service. I finished ten minutes early in the first service and fifteen early in this one and with the play.
45:55
What in the world? So, therefore, my brothers and sisters, stand firm. Don't let anything move you. Dear brothers and sisters, if you've decided to go the way of Jesus thing, go the way of Jesus and don't be moved or turned around or convinced that you are ignorant. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
46:21
Amen. Anything that's built upon that gospel foundation that is gospel driven, God, and spirit empowered will stand even though all of this other stuff will melt away. I've got several more and this one I think is when people come to me and they say, I don't know what to do. I just don't know what to do. I can't clean myself up.
46:43
I know that. I've tried over and over. I don't know what to do. This has become my go to scripture for myself and for other people. It's it's not a hard list but there are four imperatives right here.
46:54
Humble yourself. Admit you don't know what it is that you are doing. Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God so that he may exalt you at the proper time. If you exalt yourself, you're setting yourself up for a fall. Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that he may exalt you at the proper time.
47:13
Having cast all your anxiety on him, that having cast is when you trusted him, you said, I want you to be my savior and I want you to be my lord. I will trust you. You've already cast every anxiety that's going to come upon you on him. Humble yourselves having cast all your anxiety on him. Why?
47:32
Because he cares for you. Be sober. Be of sober spirit. Day day after day. Day after day, his mercies are new every morning.
47:39
Lord, help me today not to do the things that put me in a pit and to do the things that you have for me. I know that you have established my steps that I should walk in them. Lord, I long to do your will. Show me your way and I'll walk in it. Be sober.
47:55
Be on the alert. Be looking out. Your adversary and actually adversary is a prosecutor. Judy Johnson was a prosecutor in this play and she's kind of wicked when she wants to be it. Your adversary, the prosecutor, he knows the charges against you and he's right and that you're guilty.
48:14
Now, your adversary, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion and he's seeking someone to devour. If you've accepted Christ, then, it does not matter what that adversary says as true as it is about your guilt because when God looks upon someone who has trusted in Christ as their savior, what he sees is the righteousness of Christ and so the next time the devil reminds you of your past, you just remind him of his future. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion and he is seeking someone to devour, resist him. So, we've got humble yourselves, be sober, be alert, and resist him, the devil. Firm in your faith.
48:55
It can't just be on your own power. It's gotta be in your faith. Firm in your faith knowing that same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, he will himself. And this is what's so good about this because almighty God really is almighty.
49:17
And he really can do this. It says, humble yourself, be sober, be alert, resist the devil, and after you have suffered for a little while, God himself who called you in to his eternal glory in Christ, he will himself. This is almighty God doing it. He will perfect you. It's his work, not your work.
49:36
Submit to it. It's his work. He will perfect you. He will confirm. He will strengthen and he will establish you and to him be the power, dominion forever and ever.
49:47
Amen. Amen. Amen. So, There is Rosales. We did this last week but Ginger, is Ginger here?
50:00
Is somebody, Eula and Jamie and Roger were going to come forward? Would you all come forward? We're going do a covenant ceremony right now. They have come forward actually came forward during a service which is rare here in Wyoming but they came forward and then we went to do a discovery class. This is miss Jamie Monroe, miss Eula Monroe Dodson, sorry.
50:24
And this is Roger, that's right. Jamie Monroe Dodson, Roger Dodson, miss Eula Monroe. And Barwells, please come forward. We missed a slide this morning. Here they are.
50:39
Okay, Diane and Paul. Sorry. We don't run on protocol. Thank you lord that we don't run on protocol but I already am towering over y'all. Let me stand down here.
50:52
So, we have had extensive conversations about it was it was a good one, discovery class where we talked about all the things that this church believes but honestly, if you've been sitting here and you've gotten to know the church, y'all have kind of discovered. What I like about the discovery class is I get to discover who y'all are and it's been really really good. Our elders have looked over and considered and everybody is in firm agreement that we should welcome them as members and that's great but I want to give you a chance to say something. I don't have a microphone on me but do y'all want to say anything before you come in today?
51:45
Very challenging to find a a church home and probably let the devil get in the way of that and while we've lived in Utah predominantly and while we're still there, we look very much forward to when we're here and get to enjoy the fellowship and the service. I'm very thankful for a church home in Jackson. I don't feel at home anywhere else yet except next door to my daughter and son-in-law, but I look I feel at home here and I look forward to feeling at home in Jackson eventually. Amen.
52:20
So, do each of you agree that you have accepted Christ as your savior and you seek to have him be the Lord of your life, do you? Amen. You feel that you have been led by God through his Holy Spirit to join and be a part of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville? Absolutely. Now, do y'all those of you, there are plenty of you out here who are members and other attenders.
52:44
Do y'all agree with them that God has called them, chosen them to be here at this time to be a part of what he is doing in this place. Will y'all accept him as members? Yes. Alright and we make a covenant with y'all and we hope that this is a covenant but it's a two sided agreement that we will seek to serve God as he leads and will you all out there and up here, will you agree to both minister to and receive ministry from each and every other member of this church? Will you do that?
53:17
Then in the name of Jesus Christ, that we welcome you as members and we're very very thankful that you are here with us.
53:23
Thank
53:23
you. Love you. Thank you. Absolutely. Love y'all.
53:32
Alright. I don't know dear Lord, father of of mankind. I still don't know it. We keep on doing it and I still still don't know it. That's alright.
53:43
I could probably catch it by the second verse. Would you all stand up? And we're gonna sing it anyway. Alright? But standing near the piano helps with that sort of thing.
53:51
If you know this song, sing it really loud and I'll bring you the microphone, alright?
55:12
Through the earthquake wind and fire most still small voice of Thank
55:25
you, Judy. And now, may the God of peace himself. Thank you, Jesus. Now, may the God of of peace himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful and he will surely do it.
55:47
I pray that we would let him. In Jesus name, amen.
