0:02
Speaker 2Good morning, everybody. How are you? Good. Good. What do you say?
0:07
We we we start this thing off by singing. Oh, wait a minute. We're not ready? Oh, we are ready. Okay.
0:14
Let me share a verse first. You can stand up. My health may fail, my spirit may grow weak, and that happens. But God remains the strength of my heart. He is mine forever.
0:27
Amen to that. To hunger to see, to thirst. We can first love come away. Do as you did at first, spirit of spirit the spirit of the living God. Come fall fresh on me.
1:28
Come wake me. Overflows. Let's sing spirit, come and fill this place. Spirit, come and fill this place. Let your glory now in there.
2:13
Let's sing that again. Spirit come and fill. Spirit, come and fill this place. Let your glory now in the spirit of spirit of the living God, come fall fresh on me. Come wake me from my sleep.
2:54
Go through the caverns of my soul, bore me to overflow to overflow
3:12
Speaker 1Alright, y'all can have a seat. I have a few announcements this morning and we'll click through em in a minute. Blake. Yeah. Home sweet home Monday nights.
3:26
Speaker 2Yes, we're on tomorrow night. We're in part three of Proverbs and tomorrow, we get to look at the wisdom of Christ in Proverbs. To be a true friend, which we'll look at in Proverbs, we look to Christ as the true friend. So, everything we do in Proverbs is lived out through Christ. That's what's tomorrow is about and there's a meal and Eden is cooking.
3:47
Yay. So, now that you're invited, 06:00, meal, music, message.
3:54
Speaker 1Awana is also happening. Starting off in this room, pouring into the lives of kids in the community. Mondays, 05:45 to 07:30. The Awana is a great program. We just love it.
4:05
So, that's happening. There are Bible studies happening today that are happening during the sermon time up here. So, when we break from the music time and the all of that and go to sermon time, there are some studies happening downstairs. There's Peak Children's Church and then there's a high school young men's study and a high school young ladies study. Actually, middle school, high school for both of those.
4:26
Downstairs. So, if you are that or you want to send somebody to that, go right ahead. Jeremiah part one is what they're looking at in precept studies these days. The precept studies happen on Thursday morning. So, Jeremiah, really, really, really good study.
4:44
Chapters one through 24 of Jeremiah and if there's anything else that should be in your paper bulletin, does somebody have something I'm forgetting about? Probably do. Anybody will admit it? Yeah, there's a men's retreat happening. So, there are a whole bunch of the guys that are not here with us this morning that are having their own sermon happening right now at Old Faithful Christian Ranch up in the Island Park, Idaho.
5:06
Anything else going on? Maybe not.
5:11
Speaker 2Oh, right here.
5:12
Speaker 1There you are. Yes, you. That's what I was looking for. Thank you very much. I don't have an announcement though so you're going have to talk real close to me.
5:18
You know, microphone. I do have an announcement. Here we go.
5:24
Speaker 3Really? Just
5:28
Speaker 1a little less.
5:29
Speaker 3I like it, bud. Still early. Good morning, everyone. Oh. How's every everything good?
5:36
Good. I'm James Landis. This is Everett and my son, Brooklyn. And I wanna talk about community groups. So if everyone could look to your left.
5:48
Come on, everyone. This is interactive. Look to your right. Look at the people all the way on the other end. Can you tell me 10 things about them and not where they're going to lunch after church?
6:01
That doesn't count. Or where they're going skiing. If you can, they're probably related to you. And community groups would be really good for you either way, whether you know a lot about them or if you don't. So community groups are starting in February, hopefully first or second week, depending.
6:21
Sorry. And they're gonna be structured as essentially two groups. There's gonna be one on Tuesday at six, one on Thursday at 05:30. Hopefully, one of those times will work for you if you're interested. We're potentially gonna be adding more groups as more people would like to attend.
6:39
Hopefully, we get a huge turnout. We have to add more groups. Would be great. But anyways, there's gonna be two hours at at a probably a family's home. Two hours, first hour is going to be eating, fellowship.
6:53
Second hour is going to be Bible study as well as discussion and so that's kind of how they're going be structured. It's going run for about six weeks in the beginning. Take a break and then we'll we'll re up after that. So, if you're interested, please come talk to me or Mike Demetrius and we'll we'll get you organized and everything. Sign ups will be coming next week and then the following weeks as well.
7:15
So, I I also want to let just let you know like we want, if you can only come for the dinner part, awesome. You only like food, then do that. If you can only come for, you know, the Bible study portion of it, we just want people coming to really build community relationships with our church body and you know, when believers get together, awesome things happen.
7:36
Speaker 1So. Thank you very much. Appreciate it, James. Now, y'all can't stand and greet one another and we'll bring you back together with a song.
8:08
Speaker 3Hey, buddy. How are you? Good? How's life? Good.
8:14
Yeah. Good.
8:17
Speaker 2Alright. Here we go. Wonderful. A wonderful, so wonderful is your unfailing night. Your cross has spoken mercy over me.
8:36
The rising, no ear beset, no heart could fully know. How glorious, how beautiful you are. Beautiful on love, beautiful on your door, beautiful on my soul must see. Powerful, so powerful. Your glory fills the skies.
9:17
Your mighty works displaying for all to see. The beauty of your majesty awakes my heart to sing. How marvelous, how wonderful you are. Beautiful, wonderful, beautiful one night your door, beautiful one my soul must see. Let's sing that again.
9:57
Beautiful one I love, beautiful one I God door, beautiful one my soul, must see. And you've eyes to your wonders anew. You capture my heart with this love because nothing on earth is as beautiful as you. Let's sing that again. You opened my eyes.
10:31
You opened my eyes to wonders anew. Capturing my heart with this love. There's nothing on earth as is beautiful as you. Beautiful one I love, beautiful one I adore, beautiful one my soul must see. Beautiful one I love.
11:08
Beautiful one I adore. Beautiful one my Lord, as we sing that song, I keep thinking, let everything that has breath praise the Lord, and that's us. We are here because you have given us life and you've given us meeting and you have given us purpose. Amen. And you are our God who reigns and covers over all.
11:39
So, lord, as we sing to you, may we do so genuinely and with an open heart. In Jesus name, amen. Hearts always hunger for. Oh, our hearts always hunger for. And you are.
13:59
You are the world that we praise. Thank you God for being our great God, our healer, the one who gives us grace. And Lord, as we stand together in this room and there's so much swirling right now in each and every one of us, and you know every bit of it. Absolutely every bit of it, and you're always extending grace, and you're always extending mercy. You're always extending healing.
14:53
And Lord, as you reach out to us, would it be our heart's desire to reach back toward you? To receive what you offer. Offer. In Jesus' name, amen. Whoever I live in pleads, oh, my name is great and on his hand.
15:40
My name is written on his heart. I know that while in him and he stands, no tongue can bid me thence deeper. When Satan tempts me to despair and tells me of the year within, of where I look and My soul is precious. Why he's done? My life is here.
17:54
Christ on high? With Christ my savior and my God. With Christ my savior and my God. A hallelujah. Hallelujah.
18:55
Speaker 1Amen. Y'all can have a seat. Frontline team's coming forward. Would you pray with me? God, thank you for this morning.
19:02
Thank you for the beauty of the hour. For all these that are assembled in a community, a large, larger context community. Body of Christ in this area. Lord, we we pray that you would bless this area all around us and we pray that you do it through willing hearts and obedience and God pray that you'd take the offerings that are placed in these plates lord and that you do your will and your way right here in Teton County, Wyoming and in Teton County, Idaho and spreading out from there lord that it would extend to the very uttermost places in the earth. God, would you do what you want to do?
19:42
Would you? Lord, as you let us know what you are doing, may we willingly come alongside and go for it. God, I pray that you would do a work in our hearts where we would pursue peace and sanctification and that we would share life life together. In Jesus name, we ask for your blessing and your multiplication lord of all that we do and give and endeavoring to serve you. In Jesus name, amen.
22:14
Speaker 2My father's world, though battle is not done. Jesus, who that shall be satisfied
22:47
Speaker 1Amen. It's time for children's church and for the high school and middle school, high school guys and gals downstairs right now. It's clicking through. Alright. Very good.
23:08
So, Hebrews 12, we're up to 12 through 17 My computer died on Thursday How many of y'all have had that happen? You got a lot invested in that thing, don't you? There's a different way to get around it. We've got it. It's no problem.
23:30
I just wanted to let you know. Hebrews twelve twelve through 17. To me, this week was quite emotional going through life with y'all with a lot of different kinds of thing. Hills and Valleys, Frank and Judy Basey have been married fifty years. We had a big celebration last night.
23:51
Frank and Judy, fifty years. Wow. And then there were there were corresponding difficult moments too and then there were some neutral moments in the middle. You know, where where we wouldn't be able to classify exactly what happened there but this fits so well with every moment of life and I had somebody ask, how do you make scripture relevant? And I thought, Read it.
24:15
Yeah. It's awesome. It it it baffles me how well this always fits. It's it's something. Oh, by the way, if if the shoe fits is what made me think of this.
24:26
If anybody has seen a pair of size fifteen brown Sunday shiny shoes, they're mine, okay? Alright. Here we go. Just get with me afterwards, please. This is the whole text we're going to cover today.
24:42
I'm going to read it once and then we're going to go through a little at a time but it'll it'll tell you what we're preparing for here. Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble. Make straight paths for your feet so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint but rather healed. Pursue peace with all men and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord and see to it that no one comes short of the grace of God that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble and by many be defiled and that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know, that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected.
25:26
For he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears. That's the whole of the passage we're going to try to cover today. Just a couple of paragraphs but there's a lot there. A lot of good stuff for how to live life together and we're starting community groups. If you are going to be in community with other people, you are eventually going to sin against one another, right?
25:52
That's just the way it is and cities, they say, oh, there's so much crime. You get that many sin natures together. There's obviously going to be sinning against one another. So, let's start from here and just think, this to me is is a amazing. Therefore, so therefore, whenever we see that, you know, we go back and see what it's there for.
26:12
This is the last passage right before this. It's for discipline that you endure. Last week was a hard work. I we had a lot of those in Hebrews. It's for discipline that you endure and God deals with you, believers as with sons, for what son is there whom his father did not discipline but if you are without discipline of which all of us have become partakers, then, your illegitimate children, you're not sons.
26:38
Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us and we respected them. Shall we not much rather than be subject to the father of spirits and live for they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them imperfectly. God though deals perfectly. He disciplines us for our good. Amen.
26:55
So that we may share in his holiness, all discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful but sorrowful yet to those who have been trained by it afterwards, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Therefore, this is building off of that. Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak. The body analogy for the body of Christ that Paul mentions. There will be times when one part or another of us is weak.
27:30
We should as a community come around that one and help them. Help them through the weakness. Have grace. Have mercy. Have compassion, empathy, sympathy, love, and offer to help and then help.
27:50
Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble. I heard of knee replacement that didn't go so well one time few years back and then, just recently, oh my goodness. They had a knee fixed and it's hard to keep up with that person now. They're all over the place. It is possible to help.
28:11
Strengthen hands that are weak and knees that are feeble. We see that in our day medically more than they would have at this time but it's neat to see when somebody has a kind of a new lease on life because they've been strengthened at a time where it it was difficult, weak, and feeble. That actually is a quote from Isaiah 35. Encourage the exhausted and strengthen the people. It's also a reference I think to another extra biblical book but I'll get to that in a couple of weeks.
28:35
It's also fun. Encourage the exhausted and strengthen the feeble. How many y'all are exhausted? Okay, nobody's raising their hand. Y'all are really tired if you're not raising your hand.
28:47
Yeah, there's one. There's one. I was going to say, anybody not raising your hand, strengthen that person. Help em. Do what you can.
28:56
Encourage the exhausted and strengthen the feeble. It reminds me of this also. Don't reject the discipline of lord or loathe his reproof for whom the Lord loves, he reproves even as a father corrects his son and whom he delights, encourage the exhausted, strengthen the feeble. Oh yeah, this is because I was making it. It was not Psalms.
29:16
I said, Psalms three, four, five, and six last week. It's Proverbs. I knew that. I wrote it down wrong and since we're doing corrections and retractions, I have one more. This right here, I said a few weeks ago is Jesus was looking past the cross for the joy of being back in heaven.
29:35
And upon further examination of this and I think this matters for the text today. Because it's not easy to do what we ought to do to pursue peace with all men and sanctification. For the joy set before him. That four right there is anti in Greek and it means over against or instead of in place of. So, this is saying that Christ voluntarily left the glories of heaven.
30:03
I mean, we know that from other texts. We know that but if you think about it right here, we are to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith. He is our example and he for the joy that was set before him. Even though he was in a pleasurable position just as it was in relationship to his father and the Holy Spirit. All there together communing.
30:28
He had that and he chose to take the nails. He chose to endure the cross. He chose to endure a thirty three year prologue to that moment of difficulty which we all can't experience because we're trapped in time and space, right? For now, who over against the joy that was set right before him, he was in the presence of God almighty. He chose to endure the cross.
30:59
Okay. That I think that helps today's too. Scorning the scorn. He sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble and make straight paths for your feet.
31:13
Just like the author of Hebrews always referring back to something else. Proverbs four twenty six. It really is Proverbs four twenty six. Watch the path of your feet. Watch it.
31:23
Watch where it is that you're walking and all of your ways will be established. This making straight paths for your feet. Have you seen people when they have a knee replacement or just have fallen recently and they have to figure out how am I going to get from here to there? What is the what is the path that I need to take from here to there? Because you can run into a lot of obstacles along the way.
31:49
I've had recently been helping someone who is on a walker and you've gotta really consider your way but if you consider what, you can make things a whole lot easier and better, right? So, make straight paths for your feet. Why would you want to do that? The text answers it. So that which is lame or so the that the limb, it's in italic.
32:08
So, that's an added thing to make it make little more sense in English but so that which is lame, so that which is lame may not be put out of joint but rather healed. There are times when we are weak and exhausted and feeble that we need to take care of ourselves and we need other people to take care of us too so that we can heal together. So that we can heal. We need to take it easy. Make a straight path.
32:44
The athletic analogy reappears. Pursue, strive after, go for it, okay? Go for it. Pursue. It's be pursuing technically.
32:54
Be pursuing peace. Be pursuing peace with all men. Be pursuing peace sounds very hippie, right? Be pursuing peace with all men sounds like, how about just half of em? I'd be doing pretty good.
33:09
I can agree with about half of em. Nope. Be pursuing peace with all men. This is a quote. Psalm thirty four fourteen, the seek peace and pursue it but it's depart from evil and do good.
33:26
It is evil not to seek after peace. Depart from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. First Peter picks that up again. He must turn away from evil and do good.
33:38
He must seek peace and pursue it. It requires effort to seek after peace because it's really easy to hold on to an offense. It's really easy to let two people who are arguing just keep on arguing. Pursue peace with all men. Oh and we could say Jesus said this, sermon on the mount, right?
33:56
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God. Pursue peace with all men and this is linking something that is just as important with peace is and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. Pursue sanctification. If you are without discipline and I think that we could all agree that the sanctification process is a process that requires and entails discipline. It does.
34:29
If you are without discipline, then you're illegitimate children and you're not sons. If you're not facing an uphill battle, that may be telling you something So, pursue peace with all men. Actually, like I said, that is important and we must concentrate on pursuing peace because our nature, human nature will want to hold on to offense. Remember a wrong and hold on to it. And it can be deep.
35:03
It can be deeper than you can recognize. I think too. I had an instance this week where one of them was deeper than I recognized and it came out and I was like, I didn't even know I was still holding on to that. Pursue peace with all men, the sanctification without which no one will see God pursue sanctification. Oh, I just said it was a discipline, a process that entailed discipline.
35:23
Can't we just rest? Can't we just let it slide? Yeah, you can slide. You'll backslide. Pursue sanctification.
35:32
Engage it. Go for it. Open yourself up. Lord, I long to do your will. Show me your way and I'll walk in Pursue that sanctification.
35:40
You'll have the opportunity and then, see to it. This is actually a classical, high classical Greek right here. See to it. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God. So, I think all of us probably hearing about the grace of God, we think, okay, somebody who doesn't know Jesus has a sin record on their record and they can then ask for because God says, he's made a way for them to be made right with him through Jesus.
36:07
They can say, I believe in Jesus and the grace of God will save them and that's true. We need the grace of God every single day to be able to walk in any kind of holiness or righteousness except self righteousness. We could probably manage that on our own. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God God's grace for today is available and the writer of Hebrews is saying, access it. See that you don't just take it on yourself.
36:40
But that you actually actively engage the grace that God has for you today. See to it, no one come short of the grace of God. That no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble. Now, this is an interesting little phrase right here. This is second clause in this.
36:57
It's see to it that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble. See to it that no springing. Notice the verb tense there. It doesn't say keep anything from springing up. It doesn't say, well, it does, it says, see to it that no root or bitterness springing up causes trouble because if we are honest, these little roots of bitterness are springing up all over the place, all of the time.
37:32
So, see to it that those roots of bitterness or the root that bears bitter fruit that is springing up causes no trouble. If you hold on to an offense, it will bear bitter, bitter fruit. This is actually a reference. I think back to Deuteronomy about 24, 25, somewhere in there. See to it that no root of bitterness springing up and it'll spring up causes trouble.
38:02
So, I don't do a whole lot of these. When this happens, do this but I'm doing it now. When unwanted roots of bitterness spring up, first of all, point out that occasionally, roots of bitterness spring up that you just want to hold on Don't fertilize em and don't nourish em. If you've got a parking lot and there's a crack in the parking lot and the seed gets its way in there and then, it starts to grow up and you see it and you go, let's just drive around that. It gets bigger and it gets bigger and it's amazing how much force that can take and it'll spread that crack out and water will get in and ice will form and it'll make a pothole and it'll get worse and worse and worse and worse and it doesn't get any better.
38:42
When you see it come up, deal with it. Deal with it. Actually, I'll go on to my little list here. Take care. Pull it up at the root.
38:51
Get it as low down as you can. If you just go over eat with a weed eater, it still got roots. It's going to come back. Completely obliterate them but you gotta do it with the grace of God. The grace that God has offered you, you can share in that instance.
39:07
Actually, access God's grace, his mercy, his loving kindness, and recognize, you know, like Jesus said, if you're going to pull a speck out of someone else's eye, you need to pull that mode out of your own first. Take time to think about how I am a sinful human being who has been saved by God's grace and they are sinful human beings and the grace that God has given to me, I'm going to extend to them so I don't have to hold on to this load. Does that sound too easy? Next week, next week, I think we're going to go for a topical sermon on forgiveness, I think. That's what I think we're doing.
39:44
We'll see. It'll be this text again but also more complete forgiveness because I think that there are roots of bitterness held on to. We don't even realize. So, access God's mercy and loving kindness and use it like round up. Kill it all the way down to the bottom and the only thing that does that, blood of Christ.
40:04
What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus but it certainly gives me more empathy and compassion for another sinner. To be able to forgive them. So, see to it. First of all, that no one comes short of the grace of God.
40:19
See to it that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble and by it, many be defiled. I have had this week and and every week pretty much. You have a situation that gets before you and you go, wow. This can go one or two ways. It's either going to resolve and be one of the most beautiful things that has ever happened for both of those people and everybody that lives near them.
40:44
Or it's going to go catastrophically wrong. There will be a church split, a divorce, and cataclysm will ensue. That's that's where we are. And I think roots of bitterness can cause that. By many be defiled.
41:00
It goes beyond just the original people and we get. Further and further apart. Let's side with God, pull towards him, not with an ism or another ism. Pull towards God. If we all do that, then we'll be pulling closer to one another.
41:22
Meaning can be defiled if we don't deal with that root of bitterness right away. So, see to it that there be actually that's not just implied. It's part of the sentence. See to it that there be no immoral or godless person that is like Esau. So, this is written.
41:38
First century, Jewish background believing Christians. They know this story very very well about Jacob and Esau. So, see to it that no one comes short of the grace of God. Okay, that's every day, not just for salvation but also for sanctification. If God is not disciplining and sanctifying, you really need to be sure he's saved.
42:00
That no one comes short of the grace of God. It's not just for salvation, it's for the sanctification process and Hebrews has a lot to do with getting people who have put their trust in Jesus not to fall away from it. Who said that they believe not to fall away from it. Not to go back to what they know. See to it that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble and see to it that there be no none of you that are.
42:23
Immoral, godless people like Esau who sold his own birthright for a single meal. You might think, wait, wait, that seems like a weird example to me. Well, it goes on. You know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, that's Esau sold his birthright to his brother, the trickster, Jacob. Sold his birthright for some porridge and then, even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected.
42:55
Jacob, his brother, was mentioned in the hall of faith, right? It's a it's a severe contrast. In the rabbinical literature in between the Testaments, Esau had become an absolutely bad, bad, bad, bad guy. He had done every possible kind of sin you could and Jacob was also a trickster but Jacob wrestled with God. We talked a lot about wrestling.
43:18
Last week, you wrestle till you find your rest in God. Jacob and Esau are the contrast and it says, he found no place for repentance. That's Esau found no place for repentance though he sought for it with tears and upon first reading in English, you might look at that and say, he sought for repentance with tears and he couldn't get it but the it there is not referring to the repentance. The it there is referring to the blessing. What he wanted was to be blessed.
43:50
He gave it up voluntarily of his own free will. He went away from something that was a good blessing already. And he went for something that was temporal to satisfy his flesh desire rather than stay in which with that which was already a good blessing and he gave it away. So, he sought to inherit the blessing but he couldn't get there. Well, he had given it up.
44:23
He turned away from that which was true and good voluntarily. So, this is a strong warning to everyone that was listening then and I think everyone who's listening now to live in this moment and do everything else that the text has required of Hebrews four already gave us the same sort of feeling of the urgency of right now. Therefore, let us fear while a promise remains of entering his rest. There is a promise of entering God's rest that is right here and it's on the table and you within the grace of God, you chose it when you're little maybe or you chose it at some point in your life and you continue to keep on choosing it. By God's grace, you keep on.
45:08
Don't fall short of that grace of God and realize this is a blessing. There's a blessing to enter his rest. Therefore, let us fear while the promise remains of an ingress rest. If anyone of you may seem to have come short of it and turn back to something that doesn't matter to inherit the blessing, stick with Jesus. Today is the day.
45:29
Hebrews has said that multiple times. Actually, there's another guy that said this too recently as John Ortberg said this and I I kind of like it. It's hard but we're going to do it anyway. The greatest moment of your life is now and some of y'all are thinking, oh, I hope not. The greatest moment of your life is now.
45:49
It's not because it's pleasant or happy or easy but because this moment is the only moment you've got. If you need to forgive your mother, forgive her now. If you need to speak kindly to someone, if you need to repair a relationship, do it now. Do it today. Today is the day you got, right?
46:10
Not because it's pleasant or easy or happy but because the moment's only moment you got. Every past moment is irretrievably gone. You have a good memory of it. You got bad memory of it but if you live in it, it's never coming back. If you live there, you'll lose your life and the future is always out there somewhere.
46:27
You can spend an eternity waiting for tomorrow or worrying about tomorrow. If you live there, you likewise will lose your life. This moment is God's irreplaceable gift to you this moment right now. You can avoid sin in the now. You can cling to God in the now.
46:48
You can lean into the difficult situation knowing that it's the discipline of God and it's meant for your good. Instead of wondering, what you did in the past to cause this discipline to come upon you. It is discipline and not punishment by the way. It is training up for the future not for regret. Godly sorrow leads to repentance that is not to be regretted.
47:13
Oh, today is the day. Another one from Hebrews three seven says, therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, David wrote it, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Today, if you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts as when they provoked me as in the day of trial in the wilderness where your fathers tried me by testing me and they saw my works for forty years. They saw all those miracles. Therefore, I was angry with that generation.
47:37
I said, they always go astray in their heart and they did not know my ways. I I swore in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest. While a promise of rest remains, lean into that promise, trust God, and go on. Take care brothers and sisters that there not be anyone of you in an unbelieving heart. This references the same about Esau today, immoral and godless, irreligious, unbelieving, heart that falls away from the living God but encourage one another day after day.
48:07
There it is. Strengthen those who are feeble and weak. Encourage one another day after day as long as it's still called a day so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin for we have become partakers of Christ. If we hold fast the beginning of our assurance, firm until the end. Don't walk away from Jesus.
48:26
While it is said today, today, if you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts as when they provoke me. If you are thinking of something right now that it's an ought to do, do it today. Do it. If you feel like I can't do it, pray that God who is prompting you do it. Pray that he'll give you the strength and give you the time and give you the opportunity and do it as God leads.
48:55
I'm going to read the whole section again because I think that that last part about he regretted it and he wanted the chance and he couldn't go back in time and fix the mistake. So, I'm going to read the whole section again. See if there's anything in here for you. Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, make straight paths for your feet, kind of a call to holiness. So that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
49:25
Pursue peace with all men. And the sanctification without which none will see the Lord. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble and by it, many be defiled. See to it that there be no immoral God person who is like Esau in that. He sold his own birthright for a single meal.
49:46
Don't let your flesh get the best of you. Live by the spirit, Paul would say. For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected for he found no place for repentance. Though he sought for that blessing with tears, he found no place for repentance. He held on to how he had been mistreated by his brother and his father and his mother and ultimately his God.
50:14
I think that's the last. There's my clothes right there. I think that's the last slide. Would you all stand up and as we consider that together, would you stand up and sing this with us?
50:37
Speaker 2Yes, let's consider what we sing here. Father of kindness, you've poured out grace. Has God not poured out grace? He has poured out grace. You've brought me out of darkness and you filled me with peace.
50:52
That's the job of God. That is what he does. Let's sing a bit. How about this? We're gonna go up just one step.
51:09
You like to sing high, right? A father of kindness you have poured out grace. You brought me out of darkness. You have filled me with peace. A giver of mercy, you are my help in time of need.
51:37
Lord, I can't help but sing faithful you are. Faithful are. Faithful forever you will be. Faithful you are. All your promises are yes and amen.
52:09
All your promises are yes and amen. Are You brought me here. You pulled me from the ashes. You have broken every curse. Blessed redeemer, you have set this country.
52:36
Lord, I can't help but say faithful you are. All your promises are yes and amen. All your promises are yes and made, I will rest in your promises. My confidence is your faithfulness, and I will rest. Your promises, my confidence is your faithfulness.
53:37
Now, I will rest in your promises. My confidence is your faithfulness. Faithful are. Faithful forever you will be. Faithful you are.
54:09
All your promises are yes and amen. All your promises are yes and amen. All your promises are yes and amen.
54:46
Speaker 1Amen. The benediction today from Colossians three is this, and whatever it is that you do, whether it is in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the father through him. Lord, would you work in us this week and through us this week and may we come back, gather next week, ready, lord, to do your will, to learn your word, and go forward, lord. Carrying it forward with us and sharing that grace with everyone we encounter. In Jesus name, amen.
