Watch or read it

In one paragraph

Scott opened Mark 16 on Mother's Day 2013, walking First B through the resurrection and the command Jesus gave immediately after it. The heart of the message was simple: Jesus rose, He sent His people out, and there are crowds of lost neighbors who still have not heard the good news. Scott started by asking the congregation not to let the story of Jesus's suffering and death go stale. The...

Read together

Talk about it

  1. The preacher said, 'Don't let it get old,' referring to Jesus being nailed to the cross. In what ways do you find that the familiar details of the crucifixion and resurrection have become routine for you, and what has helped you hear them fresh?
  2. Romans 3:23 and Romans 5:6 were both read to make the point that God came for us while we were still helpless sinners, not after we cleaned ourselves up. How does that change the way you think about approaching God, or about how you talk to someone else about the gospel?
  3. The preacher asked the congregation directly, 'How are you contributing to proclaiming the good news?' He said we are not all evangelists but we are all called to be part of it somehow. What does that look like practically in your own life right now?
  4. The story of Calvary Church in Inglewood was shared as an example of God working through ordinary, imperfect people to revive a dying congregation. Where have you seen God do something through someone, or some group, that could not be fully explained by their own ability or resources?
  5. The preacher closed by asking, 'It was given to you. How are you giving it to others?' What is one specific relationship or setting in your life where you sense you could be more intentional about sharing the gospel, and what is holding you back?
