0:05
Speaker 2Alright. Good? Alright. Good morning, family. How are we doing?
0:12
It's good to see you this morning. It really is. I'm glad I'm glad we're here together to worship. What do you say we stand up? And while you're standing, I wanna share a verse.
0:21
It's from first Samuel. It says, there is no one holy like the Lord. There is no one besides you. There is no rock like our God. Let me just pray on that.
0:32
Thank you, God. Truly, there is no one like you. Thank you for your holiness. Thank you that as we're gonna sing, you are merciful and mighty. Praise you, God, for that.
0:45
We sing your praises this morning because you are worthy. You deserve
3:26
Speaker 1Amen. Good morning. Y'all can have a seat. I have a few announcements this morning that I will click through just as soon as I get my clicker. So, we've got a busy fall season approaching and this is when all the programs start up each year.
3:47
So, we have abundant announcements. There's a lot to promote because it's all coming up soon. First of all, Old Bills Fun Run is happening next Saturday. So, next Saturday is where the gathering is on the square but until then, you can, if you would like to, give to any nonprofit in town and there are a long long list of em. The main main reason there's a long list of em is because the Old Bills Fun Run.
4:09
It amplifies charitable giving towards non profit organizations. We here use it for our local benevolence fund. If someone needs motel room for the night or their car breaks down or something, they happen to be here and they're destitute without another way. If they come and ask, we're able to say yes because of that kind of a donation. Good Samaritan Mission does takes care of the homeless and hurting and addicted and so they work through that.
4:38
Young Life works with teenagers. Turning Point works with people in difficult pregnancies and so all of those different places you can get through Old Bill's Fun Run if you would like to. We have, is that the two announcements we have? There's a lot going on. There we go.
4:59
Okay. No Monday night this week. It is Labor Day. So, we're going to take the night off of Monday nights but we have Awana that will beginning the following week. So, Awana is beginning September 10.
5:10
It's a group effort and tomorrow night, September 3 at the Tolleson's house. They're having a gathering and get together for anybody who wants to volunteer to be a part of Awana. So, 533685 Bedstraw Lane. That's in South Park Ranches. If you want to make a big impact on the life of a child, you please, please, come to Awana.
5:31
This is because kids matter to God, pour in scripture into the minds of kids to reach the hearts of kids. It's a group effort and they do want all of you who will come. There in your bulletin, there are information about Bible studies that are starting up. There are a lot of small group Bible studies that are getting going and the information for each of those and the contact person for each of those is in there. There's also an additional handout in the back that Nick made up that's got locations and stuff like that, right?
6:02
Okay. Nick, would you stand for just a second? This guy knows more about which small groups are where and what's going with them than anybody else in the room, okay? So, if you want to afterwards talk to him about either getting into, you don't have to worry about getting out of one yet but if you want to get into, we'll help you with that if the time should come, alright? These are not forever for life.
6:24
Some of em are six week study, some twelve, some eighteen but if you would, talk to Nick. He'll be able to point you in the right direction and I think there are other announcements I'm forgetting and community Bible study is starting Alright. Fantastic. So, Wednesday evening at 06:30. Right here in this room and then Monday is a ladies version of Community Bible Studies Prayer Group and it will be in the fellowship hall, Monday morning, 09:30.
7:01
Okay, very good and there is, there they are. Okay, youth group is happening. 06:30 to 08:00 on Tuesday. We also have a precept study that start not this week but next week on the thirteenth, I believe, is when that start. So, if there's anything else and I'm sure there is, this is kind of haphazard this morning.
7:23
There will be in your weekly bulletin. So, grab that paper bulletin on your way out if you didn't grab one on the way in. Does anybody else have anything that you just gotta say? Somebody testify. Testify.
7:34
Come on. No, not right now. Would you stand up and greet one another then and we'll bring you back together with a song.
11:24
Speaker 2Amen. Let me share a verse from just right in that same vein. All honor and glory to God forever and ever. He's the eternal king, the unseen one who never dies. He alone is God.
11:37
Amen. Let's pray on
15:25
Speaker 1that.
15:25
Speaker 2God, there you are. The word became flesh.
15:29
Speaker 1Amen.
15:30
Speaker 2And you made your dwelling among us. We have seen the glory. The glory of the one and only son who came from the father full of grace and truth. That is indeed you, unchanging, alone in greatness. You rose in power.
15:45
You reign forever. This is why this is why we we celebrate you. This is why we sing to you. And, God, may we do so with all of our heart. Can we shake off the dust of of the week?
15:57
God, when we just give everything that we have to to you right now, trusting that you are here, that you are with with us, that in faith, believe that we are made right with God through you, that we have direct access to God because of you, Jesus. Thank you, God, for life and joy and peace in the spirit. In Jesus' name. Amen. You can be seated and ask the frontline team to come forward and.
19:39
Speaker 1Great. Would you pray for us this? God almighty, I thank you for the day that you've given this morning, lord. We wake up and just see this beautiful valley whether we live here every day. It never gets old.
19:52
Lord, it's just like Carl said earlier, your mercies are new every morning. I pray lord that everyone that comes through this valley would when they look upon your creation, some came to worship it outright but I pray that when people see this creation that those mountains would point up, they would see you. It's in Jesus name lord that we come to you this morning knowing that he has made the sacrifice that is sufficient. Wanting to be a part of what it is that you are doing in the world. Lord, we want for that good gospel to go forward, the advance of your kingdom here on earth.
20:28
We we pray for things to be on earth as they are in heaven and we mean it and lord, would you use these offerings that we place in these plates, lord? Would you use this to advance your kingdom in this city, state, region, country, but lord to the ends of the earth. We pray that those who do not know Jesus or have any access to him would know because of the faithfulness and obedience of his followers. Those of us who seek to serve, endeavor to serve every day. In Jesus name, lord, we ask that you'd bless this time of offering that you'd multiply the gift and bless the givers.
21:07
In Jesus name, amen. Good morning. This this time right here, right now, in between the songs and the sermon is the time where next starting next week, we will have the kids kind of trumping out of here. We're not having children's church this week but we are having children's church. Again, we're just not having it this week but we'll start it back up next week.
24:50
It'll get going again and I like that. That transition time. I like to hear this. Not just the pitter patter but the stomping out of the room of all the kids. We're up to first Peter one twenty two.
25:01
Actually, covered verse 22 last week in the sermon. I ended on it and then used it for the benediction as you walked out but it's kind of a new thought and it is part of a new paragraph and in this that we're going to cover today, the one twenty two bridging the chapters over in the two three. There are two imperatives and it was interesting to me at least. It was interesting to me that they are loving and then longing and it's an interesting thing to me to like, what are we loving? What are we longing?
25:33
That's what we're going be looking at. I'm trying to just shoot straight down the center of the plate, tell you exactly what it says. That's always my goal. Tell you exactly what it says. If there's a place where we wonder, well, what exactly does that mean or hone the definition a little bit?
25:48
I'll do that and then, what I'm really concentrating on today is self evaluation. Where you sit in the light of this scripture, where do you sit? Where do you stand? With these two imperatives, where do you stand and what it's directing us to do? Now, this letter was written by the apostle Peter to Christians and so last week, I did preach a very evangelistic message because I just couldn't get it off my heart.
26:16
Sticking with the with the message. This one is primarily for people who have believed in Jesus. It starts right here. It says, since you have, meaning, in the past, since you have already done this, this part is taken care of. Since you have put your faith in Christ to be saved.
26:32
Since you have put your faith in Christ because he is the way that God has made, the way, the truth, the life. Since you have. In obedience to the truth. I said multiple times last week that the truth, specific truth he's talking about. It's evident when you read the whole text.
26:49
The specific truth he's talking about is the truth of the gospel that Jesus is the way. He's the truth. He's the life. So, since you have in obedience to the truth, purified your souls. God is completely sovereign and has made a way and you are responsible for choosing and when you do that, in obedience to the truth that God revealed, then, that purifies your soul and it purifies it with a purpose for a sincere love of the brethren.
27:20
And so this is the first imperative we hit. Fervently love. It's love but amplifies. Fervently love one another from the heart. You can do that.
27:29
Since you have trusted in Christ, our people pretty much wretched. Yeah. I mean, that I I come up against occasionally where somebody else said, no, people are great. We're convinced them. In fact, religion is what convinces them more than anything that they're not worthy and they're not worth anything and it's by putting them down, putting them down that people become evil.
27:50
No, no, no, no, no, no. People start off. Do you all agree with me? Just wonder. Y'all agree with me?
27:57
Now, there is something about the spark of the divine. There is something about we created in the image of God and there is goodness and worth and value in every single person but as far as our choices go, we don't choose God. We choose self, right? From early on, we choose self. There are people who are more benevolent than others.
28:14
Yeah, I'll give you that and there are good people if you stack em up against people. There are better people and worse people if you stack em up against people. But in light of a holy God and that's what we were talking about last week, everyone falls short. Everyone does. John says, we can love because he first loved us.
28:34
So, this fervently love one another, that love is derived from a relationship with God. Since you have in obedience to the truth, purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart. One another, since it's written to Christians, fervently love Christians. Now, does that mean you don't love people outside of the church? No.
28:57
But he's, it's a straight up command to fervently love those in the church. Our church folk hard to deal with sometimes? We can be. Admit that. We're coming together for communion today too and so when we're coming together for communion, it just mentioned earlier in the text that it mentioned being purified with the blood of Jesus and obeying the truth.
29:21
It's recognition of the fact that we do not deserve saving. We do not merit his grace. Grace is unmerited favor and so, if you have received that, you can also share that. Their theology doesn't have to match up exactly with yours to get a pat on the back. Do you understand?
29:46
Do you get that? So, fervently love one another. Jesus prays for unity in the garden. We divide lines. We call it denomination.
29:57
Denomination. I go by this name. Paul specifically says, don't do that. I'm of Peter. I'm of Apollos.
30:05
I'm of this. I'm of Christ. Fervently love one another across those lines, please. I'm so glad to know that this is not a totally blue congregation or a totally red congregation as it's judged these days but we're pretty much purple. Wouldn't know fervently love one another from the heart.
30:27
Let it be from the heart because God purifies the heart. Now, why? Why should we? He mentions it. Again, he just mentioned it earlier in the text too.
30:39
That it was not with perishable things. You have not, you have been born again, not of seed which is perishable but imperishable. That is through the living and enduring word of God and in this case right here where he says, word, it is the same word that John uses. He uses a different word for word in a lot of different places in Peter but he's speaking about Christ. What brings us together is Christ.
31:02
When we come together for communion, we are coming together to say, we come together and we are all made worthy by the blood of Christ. It's by his sacrifice. John says, in the beginning was the word. In the beginning was the word. It was God's divine expression towards us in a language we can understand.
31:24
You get that? God's exact image through Jesus. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him.
31:37
When I talk about creation this morning, there's nothing that came into being that has come into being without him and him was life and his life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it. It is possible to comprehend it. It's also possible to reject it out of hand. My message of the cross slide, I used three out of four Sundays.
32:02
It either is going to be foolishness to you or it is going to be the power of God unto salvation. It's it's one of the other. It is the aroma of Christ or it is the stench of death and you either accept or reject it, right? So, fervently love one another from the heart. For you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable.
32:25
That is through the living and enduring word of God. Amen. Christ has risen. Jesus has risen. His word, the Bible, his word endures and we get into that in just a minute.
32:39
Peter starts quoting Isaiah. I mentioned Isaiah and Peter's similarities last week. For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass, the grass withers, and the foul flower falls off. Do you see that? Do you see that the older that we get, the more we wither and eventually the flowers fall off.
33:05
I know. Well, you can, actually, there's an option there. If you keep getting bigger, it stretches the wrinkles out. But for the most part, for the most part, all flesh is like grass and all its glory is like the flower of grass. It is beautiful and we can look at a field of grass out here and go, man, that's just gorgeous.
33:27
But it is going to fade. It's not going to be forever. Even evergreens don't last forever. All flesh is like grass. This is written by Isaiah nine hundred years or so before.
33:38
All its glory is like the flower of grass. The grass withers. The flower flower falls off but the word of the Lord endures forever. Not one jot or tittle will be lost. God's word will remain and Jesus, embodiment of that word, came to Earth, lived a perfect life, died a perfect sacrificial death, was dead and buried, and it looks like right there, his flower faded or fell off right there, but he was resurrected.
34:08
The word of the God endures forever. Jesus continues and this is the word which was preached to you. This is the word that was preached to you. This is the Jesus that was preached to you and he's used in Old Testament texts to make his point. This is the word which was preached to you and he's already said and since you have already accepted this, fervently love one another.
34:31
Isaiah, you just want to read it. A voice calls out. A voice says, call out. Voice of God says to Isaiah, call out and then he answer, well, what shall I call out? All flesh is like grass and its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
34:45
The grass withers, the flower fades. When the breath of the Lord blows upon it, Now, he's saying that this death that comes is God that brings about the withering and the death. You look at that after having had someone die and you might think, why did God do that? Why did he allow that? Why did he kill that person?
35:08
Why did he allow that person to die? It's a merciful act of a loving God that we don't last forever especially in our sin and in our sinful condition here. So, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it, surely, the people are grass. The grass withers and the flower fades but the word of our God stands forever. Amen.
35:30
Isaiah, he's one of those prophets that Peter was talking about last week that made searches and inquiries and looked into what the spirit of Christ in him might be saying about time and place and when and where, how this would come about. He got glimpses of it. He didn't know it completely. First Peter, sorry, that's supposed to say two one. Therefore, putting aside.
35:53
So, this is where the chapter break happens but there are no chapters when they wrote this, right? When Peter wrote this or Sylvanus actually probably wrote it down but Peter's dictating this letter through Silas or Sylvanus and he says, therefore, because of all that, because the flower fades and the grass withers and people will die. Therefore, putting aside all and he starts off with malice. Putting aside all malice. Do you know what malice is?
36:22
I actually looked it up. I I like to do that. Malice is ill will towards another. Ill will towards someone else. It is not wishing the best for someone else.
36:40
All malice? Are there some people that we can still just can't stand? That we can wish bad things would happen to? He says, having believed, recognizing your own sin in that belief too. Having believed, you love one another fervently.
36:58
It really didn't put the parameters on just our family or just Christians. It is a command. Whether you believe or not, it's a command. It's for all of us. Love one another fervently.
37:08
Therefore, putting aside all malice, all malice. Alright, this is the time for self evaluation before I move to the next little thing in the list. Do you have any malice? In your heart, are you harboring malice, ill will, or ill feelings toward anyone? Let's consider Jesus being nailed to the cross.
37:34
Did he have any reason to be upset? He had been beaten for hours and hours. He had been declared innocent multiple times in a trial and still condemned even though innocent. How innocent are we? First of all, Did he hold any malice?
37:57
Well, what he said was, father, forgive them for they know not what they do. If you see what someone else has done, even if it's outright evil towards you and intentional and you see that because they were intentionally mailing him whether it's by orders or not. He's holds no malice against him. As the old song says, that's the ones he died for. Therefore, putting aside all malice.
38:24
Alright. Before we come to the table, Paul gives a warning and he says, none of you should take this communion unworthily. So, this whole sermon is pointing towards this communion. None of you should come unworthily. Now, the only way we can be made worthy is by the blood of Christ.
38:41
You can't be good enough. John three, Nicodemus comes at night. He's a Pharisee. Good guy comes in. He's even seeking after Jesus and he says, we know you're from God.
38:50
Can't do these kind of things if you're not from God and Jesus says, you must be born again. You've got to be. God so loved the world, gave his only forgotten son that whosoever believes on him shall not perish. You have to believe. You have to put your faith.
39:05
The measure of faith that you've been given must be put in Jesus Christ in order to be made worthy to receive. Now, does that mean that immediately when you believe, you immediately become perfect. Heavens no. Would that it were so but it is not and so in our practice, we have to take some responsibility. God sovereignly saves and when he does it, it is complete from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light but in our walk, we have to walk it out and we have to submit our will to his.
39:35
So, therefore, putting aside all malice. That is a conscious act by by a thinking person, okay? It's not easy to do. Christ has promised a comforter for those who believe. He's promised the Holy Spirit and the life and you will have.
39:50
When you believe in Jesus, a still small voice that is speaking to you and as you listen to the voice, you hear it more clearly and as you ignore it, it becomes harder to hear. Therefore, putting aside all malice. I ask you this morning. I'm just proclaiming this to you. Put aside all malice.
40:11
Please, your life will be better if you put aside all malice. It will set you free if you put aside all malice. Anything that you're harbored in your heart and you're holding on to, just put it aside. Lay it aside. Get rid of.
40:29
And all deceit. I think if anybody said I don't have any malice in my heart, you're probably deceiving yourself. He says, all deceit, not just deceiving yourself but where you try to sneak in just under the wire. How old is that kid at the movies? What's the break?
40:47
11? All deceit. It's all deceit. Anything deceptive. I looked that one up too.
40:55
But that one's just straight up deceit. Any kind of trickery actually, craftiness Unfortunately, it's a lot of salesman's tricks to try to get you to do something that they want you to do and you really aren't sure about. Any kind of deceit put aside. Be straightforward, honest. Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit.
41:21
My mom calls me and my wife continues the habit of calling me mister informative. I had an aunt come over to the house one time. It's I don't know, January, February sometime and she said, what lovely carpet? I was, what else you going to do? You're just being polite, you know?
41:39
What lovely carpet. I moved a coffee table out of the way to show her a place where the Christmas lights burned a hole in it. I didn't want her thinking that that was lovely carpet. That's silly. People don't do that.
41:51
But they're removing all deceit. This one is one that I have a real real problem with if I feel like I'm leading someone astray by what I say. It really, really, it pursues me and bothers me but there are people that don't mind it at all. So, I struggle with other stuff. That one's not one of em that I usually do.
42:09
I I don't even like to make the turn in a sermon sometimes. I don't even like to make the turn because I feel like I'm I'm trying to get them to do something. What I'm trying to get you to do is paid attention to the word of God because it matters. If it feels manufactured in human, it really really bothers me. So, for me, putting aside all malice, putting aside all deceit for you too, not just me.
42:38
Put it aside. Is there any deceit in your heart, in your walk, in your words? Is there any deceit right now? I'm asking y'all for self evaluation, not just me. Is there any hypocrisy?
42:49
Now, this one comes up a lot in the New Testament. Hypocrisy is play acting. We probably heard that before. Hypocrisy is specifically a response and answer dissembling. It's also, it's kind of the same thing as deceit.
43:08
It's putting on a mask and not sharing the truth. Not showing the truth but covering it up. So, hypocrisy. Do you have any hypocrisy in your life? You don't have to.
43:25
Most of us do but you don't have to. Christ came and he lived exactly as he was. He did not play the hypocrite ever. Never. He said, I'll put my spirit within you.
43:41
And as he submitted to the spirit, we can submit to the spirit and we can remove hypocrisy and artifice from our lives. By the power of the spirit. We have the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is at work within us. If we will submit our will, we can rid ourselves of hypocrisy. Do you have hypocrisy in your life?
43:58
Next is envy. Envy I might have put this one up there. I did. Thanos. Thanos.
44:07
Envy. Holding on to a grudge. So, not just envy like we think of it as jealousy and it's just it. Well, it's jealousy. It's jealousy.
44:16
It is but it's also a grudge when you're holding something against someone. It is spite. Spite is where you are holding something against someone. So, you either say something bad about em or do something bad against them. You put action to your envious grudging.
44:31
It's a primitive word. Probably can to decay, breakdown, or corruption. It properly is a strong feeling, a desire that sours due to the influence of sand figuratively. It's a miserable trait of being glad when someone experiences misfortune or pain. It's very much like malice.
44:52
That envy. Are you feeling? Are you feeling this? So, a lot of times we do communion. It's tacked on to the end.
44:58
I'm doing this because we're doing communion. We're taking communion. We do not deserve this. We do not deserve the blood of Jesus. We do not deserve what he has given but this Thanos refers to jealous envy that negatively energizes someone with an embittered mind.
45:18
Oh, I just love it when somebody screws up and I see it. Conveys displeasure at another's good and this is another form of this envy. It is when you look around without longing to raise oneself. You see something that someone else has perhaps because they have really worked hard for it. You look at them and without the longing to raise oneself up to that level of him who envies but only to depress the envy to his own level.
45:47
It's not that we want to lift ourselves up with envy or jealousy. It's we want to bring them down. Can you see how others are not faring well with any of these? Putting aside all malice, that's ill will for the other, all deceit, trying to trick the other, hypocrisy, showing yourself to be something that you're not so that you can impress the other. Envy, which also if you're trying to impress the other and they get the idea that you're perfect and they know that they're not.
46:18
It's a really hard place to be because you're you're going, I can never do what they do. It's pointless and it leads to deep deep depression. Hypocrisy, envy, that jealousy we just talked about and all slander. Slander is evil speaking, backbiting, detraction, slander, railing, or defaming talk. That is using your words in a way that tears someone else down.
46:43
Pascal went to a little a little preschool when we were in South Carolina and the first memory verse that they learned was not John three sixteen, which you would think, you know, catch em while they're young. It was encourage one another and build each other up. Encourage one another and build each other up. I thought, this teacher gets it. Encourage one another and build each other up.
47:09
Slender does not do that. So, this is the verse. Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and all hypocrisy and envy and all slander Like newborn babies long for the pure milk of the word. When a baby comes into this world and they are hungry, what do they do? They cry out.
47:34
They cry out to the one that can provide for them pure milk, right? That's the word that he uses and this is the second imperative. Long for, I feel like it's softening that some. It really is crave. Crave it.
47:53
If you want to rid yourself of malice and envy, slander, and all of that stuff, crave this, the pure, pure milk of God's word. Strain after it, desire it greatly, have affection for, crave it. Like, newborn baby, this is the new living translation of this. So, get rid of all the evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and unkind speech Like newborn babies, you must crave and it is an imperative.
48:21
Crave the pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment. Cry out for it. So, I don't usually preach. You ought to read your Bible more but you know what?
48:38
You ought to read your Bible more. Really should. We hit it right here. Crave it. It's good for you.
48:47
It's really really good for you. Even if you're lactose intolerant. It's really good for you, alright? And then the last thing today, I've gone long the past couple of Sundays. Last thing for today is this, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.
49:03
So, it's saying this, again, it goes back to having done this, since you have done this, since you have done this, and then at the very end, it says, if you have tasted of the Lord. So, if you are a believer in Jesus, put aside the malice, put aside the evil speaking, put aside the slander, put aside the jealousy. You may not know how to do it. We are surrounded by it. Whether you believe it or not, capitalism is not exactly in line with the New Testament.
49:32
Oh, that sucked the air out of the room. If you have tasted of the kindness of the Lord, then put aside malice and deceit and hypocrisy and envy. I'm going give you a chance to center yourselves on this word of God. This direction from the humbled apostle Peter, the one who had denied Jesus with a curse. Chopped off a guy's ear jumped out of the boat and sank.
50:05
He made mistake after mistake after mistake. If someone says to you, do as I say, not as I do, they're a hypocrite. If someone says, do as I say, not as I used to do, they're a teacher who has learned, okay? Imma give you a second. I'll ask the frontline team or the elders please.
50:26
The elders to come forward. Four of you if you would. Come forward and we're going to do the distribution. I'm going to linger for just a bit and I want you to think about those particular aspects since that's what's in the text this week. And I want you to examine yourself in the light of this word.
50:45
Now, last week was all about the holiness of God. Isaiah saw him high and lifted up and Seraphim were adoring and singing holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty. And immediately, he recognized his own sin. So, in the light of this scripture today, do you have in your life malice? Do you have in your life deceit, hypocrisy, envy, or slander?
51:08
I'll share one more verse with you that is very, very, very hopeful and good. It's first John one nine. He says, if you confess your sin, this is God speaking directly to you. This morning. If you confess your sin, I am faithful and I am just to forgive you of your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
51:35
If you are confessing your sins, I am faithful and just to be forgiving your sins and cleansing you from all unrighteousness. It's a progressive action. None of us have arrived. None of us are walking through life with no sin at all ever but we do have a mechanism whereby we can be cleansed, where we can go to God. He's doing the cleansing but we're reaching out and he is purifying our souls.
52:08
Lord God almighty, I thank you for making a way for us. Thank you that you have the plan. I thank you Jesus that you walked out that plan perfectly in your own life and you became a ransom for many, for all of those who would believe and trust in you. In Jesus name, lord, we come to you because we have sinned and we do fall short. I I pray lord that you would bless each one here who partakes of this, that they would feel the sense of cleansing that you only you can give.
52:46
I thank you lord for your wonderful and gracious words and your word, your example, but lord, even more than that, I'm thankful for the sacrifice you made to cover our shortfall. In Jesus name, lord. Those Amen. Of y'all would distribute the bread and if you're not, if you haven't been here before, our typical way is to wait until everyone has received and then we'll take together. This is an open table for anyone who believes in Jesus.
53:21
I don't care your denominational affiliation background, how you're baptized, none of that. If you believe in Jesus and you trust him to make you at one with God, this is for you. On the same night that Jesus was betrayed, think of all of that. Think of all the malice. Think of all of the stuff that went into that betrayal by so many.
56:19
The same night that he was betrayed, he knew. And after supper, he took bread and after having given thanks, lessen it. He said, take this and eat. This is my body. Do this in remembrance it.
56:43
Jesus, I thank you for walking out what it is that we believe in. We believe we should listen to God and act according to his way. Thank you for perfectly accomplishing that task. In anguish sometimes, man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Thank you lord for choosing to go to the cross on our behalf.
57:10
Jesus name, I pray a blessing for each who would receive this cup that we're about to pass, this little plastic glass of grape juice that represents the blood of Christ and for each one lord who must let it pass because they just don't believe. Lord, I pray that you would reach them through the witness of someone right here in this building. Jesus name, lord, would you bless this cup as we distribute it? And just like he had taken the bread, he took the cup after supper and he told his disciples that this is the new covenant, the new covenant in his blood. He told each of them to take this and drink and do it as often as you will in remembrance of him.
1:01:25
And with that practice, Paul says that we proclaim the death of Christ until he comes again. So, we proclaim the death, forgiveness of sins until he comes again and we do that. Would you all stand? And we'll sing the last song. Is it going to be your work?
1:01:45
Yeah, just the chorus. Just the chorus of your work. Alright. Okay. Alright.
1:01:50
Sounds good. Play it. G and watch you for the change. Yep.
1:01:56
Speaker 2But really in in light of of the grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever. Let's let's just sing that that chorus two times through here. So your words give us.
1:03:03
Speaker 1If you feel like God's moving in your life and you want to come to know him for salvation, then please, please, please, come see me but if you feel like God's working in your life and you're already saved and you want to grow into be have a fuller experience of your salvation. It's about sanctification. Then, would you come see me, please? Come talk to me at some point this week, please. I've got a benediction for you too and it's right here.
1:03:35
May the God of endurance and encouragement because that can be heavy. What we listen to today. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another as you love them fervently. In accordance with Christ, Jesus, that together you may with one voice, glorify the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, would you bring that to pass in our lives?
1:03:57
I pray lord that we communally would submit our will to yours. In Jesus name, amen.
