Watch or read it

In one paragraph

Jeremy Diebler preached on the "one another" commands of the New Testament, working through them as a kind of foundation before settling into Ephesians 4:17 through 5:2. His central concern was that the Church is supposed to be the living laboratory for what the Bible teaches, and that if people like Jesus but do not like Christians, something has gone wrong in the doing of it. Jeremy opened with...

Talk about it

  1. C. S. Lewis said that to love anything is to be vulnerable, and that the alternative is a heart that becomes 'unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.' Where have you seen that play out, either in your own life or in someone close to you?
  2. Pastor Jeremy described the church as the lab where we practice what the Bible teaches, not just a place to study it. In your own experience, which of the 'one another' commands has been hardest to move from knowing to actually doing, and why?
  3. The sermon pointed out that Jesus said people would know we are His disciples by the way we love one another, but that many people who like Jesus do not like Christians. What do you think gets in the way of the church closing that gap?
  4. Pastor Jeremy read from Ephesians 4 that we are to 'be angry and yet not sin' and not let the sun go down on our anger. How do you personally tell the difference between righteous anger and anger that is starting to give the devil an opportunity?
  5. The set-aside prayer from the sermon asks God to help us set aside everything we think we know about Him, about ourselves, and about other people, so we can see things with new eyes. Is there a relationship or situation in your life right now where praying something like that might change things?
