Speaker 2Good afternoon, ladies. I realize that you're eating. We'd like to go ahead and enter into praise and worship. And whenever you're finished, please join us. Amen.
4:54
Father, we thank you for this sweet time together. We thank you that you sent your one and only son for us. Thank you for everything that you've done for us, and we thank you for your great name. Father, thank you again for this time. We pray over this teaching, this lesson, and the next seven lessons to come.
14:32
Pray for every heart that's in this room and every heart that intended to be here. We ask the Holy Spirit come and speak to each heart.
14:48
Speaker 3Amen.
14:51
Speaker 1Wow.
14:53
Speaker 2I would like to introduce I get the joy of introducing our fearless, sweet, wonderful teacher, Ms. Deborah Buckingham. She will be teaching the next seven sessions and her subjects will be, they are topical and they are taken from devotionals that she has been writing, which I can't wait to read. Deborah has been teaching and or leading prayer groups in California for the past seventeen years, and we have been so blessed to have her here in Jackson for the past two years. So please welcome our dear friend, sister in Christ.
15:38
Yay. Deborah Buckingham.
15:41
Speaker 1Thank you. Thank you. Hello. Hello. Welcome.
15:48
Whoo. I don't know about you but after summer, I'm ready to get back on schedule and that usually includes Bible study, right, in the fall? Yeah, I know. Allison's clapping. I love summer but enough is enough, right?
16:02
Yeah. Well, I just want to take a second and introduce our amazing team because there's a lot of behind the scenes activity and flurry before you guys get here. And Laura Turner and Christine Schuller are our praise and worship team. We're gonna be blessed to have them for the entire seven week session. So will you just thank them for their beautiful music?
16:29
Whoo. I felt like at the end of Amazing Love, I was like, well, we can go home now. I I got my jewel of nourishment. Also on our team is Diane Geek, Diane Wave. She's our office support coordinator.
16:43
So copies and all that good stuff, Diane does. In the back, Dansy you have to stand up. Dancey is our technical girl, she does all the slides and all the technical stuff that have no idea what button to push. And we also have Becky Palmquist. Where's Becky?
17:01
Becky has taught with me for the past couple of years, but this year, this session, her schedule is crazy. So Becky has so graciously stepped into being miss hospitality queen. So you have to thank Becky for all the good food. And then we have Shelly Olson. Where is Shelly?
17:22
Yay. And Shelly is our Bible study coordinator again. So that's our awesome team. I'm Deborah Buckingham. We've been in The Valley for five years.
17:32
I've been teaching here for the past two years, and I I love teaching. It is totally my passion. I love being in the word. I have been a diligent studier of the word for the past seventeen years, and I think the Bible is just the most incredible book because the more I study, the more I want to study, and I keep learning new things. How does that happen with one book?
17:55
It's just unbelievable. I wanted to show you a picture of my family just because I often use them much to their fear. They're like, mom, don't use this in your teaching, please, when they do something, but my husband Greg and I have been married twenty nine years in March, and I still love him. Thank goodness because we're empty nesters now, so I always tell him, oh, thank God we like each other because we're together all the time. And my daughter Julia is a sophomore at Elon University in North Carolina, way too far to be away from my baby girl, but she is exactly where God wants her.
18:35
So I just rest in that. And my son, Greyson, is 22, and he's in graduate school at Georgetown University in Washington DC. So still a little too far, but it's okay okay because he's where God has him. So so when I talk about them, that just gives you a face with the visual. Well, just a couple of details.
18:58
Each week in your table, we are gonna have a handout, and this week was the smallest handout I've ever done in my life. I usually include a ton of scripture because that's just how I teach. I teach with a lot of scriptures, so we don't take time to look it up in Bible study because you guys do wanna get out of here today. So I just thought you can jot down any scripture that speaks to you and look it up later. Each week, I'm also gonna be including on your table as she called promises to claim, and we will not be breaking into small group.
19:32
We will not have homework, but we just encourage you to sit with these promises to claim. God loves us so much, and he has so much say to us. And it is just so easy to get up and get going and not even give him a second thought. He's like, hey. Just wanted to be with you today.
19:54
So I encourage you to go through these promises to claim and they'll be new every week for you. Well, I thought it would be fun for our first lesson together to talk about the father and the father's love. I mean, love is always a great way to start things. Right? And my girlfriend sent me this email from California that just cracked me up, and I want to share it with you.
20:20
Apparently, a group of professional people posed the question, what does love mean to four to eight year olds? And these were some of their answers. Rebecca, age eight, said, When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore, so grandpa does it for her even when his hands have arthritis. Now that's love. What a great visual, Billy H.
20:47
Four said, When someone loves you, the way they say your name is just different. You just know your name is safe in their mouth. And Carl h five said, love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving clone, and they just go out and smell each other. I love that. And this, in my family, is truly a sign of love.
21:13
Love is when you go out to eat and you give somebody most of your french fries without making them give you any of yours. And I will confess to you, I'm Deborah Buckingham. I'm a french fryaholic, so if I give you my fries, I love you. Nika, age six, said, If you want to learn to love better, you have to start with a friend you hate. It's pretty powerful, for a six year old.
21:39
And Sammy, age seven, said, Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt and then he just wears it every day. And finally, my favorite, love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen. Isn't that beautiful? So we're gonna talk about love today. Well, to the Christian, we know that the greatest commandment God gave us is what?
22:11
To love him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and then just love everybody else as much as you love yourself. That is a great commandment to fulfill, isn't it? John said that God loved every single person in this world so much that he gave his one and only son that whoever would believe in him will never perish but have eternal life. And God didn't send his son to condemn the world but to save the world. Let's just open the teaching in prayer.
22:44
Lord, thank you so much for love. Thank you for loving us, for going to the ends of the earth just to be with us. Thank you for creating every single woman in this room. Thank you for knitting her together and for having great plans for her. Thank you for your word, and I just pray it comes alive to us today.
23:10
In Jesus' name, amen. Well, Saint Augustine is one of my favorite theologians, and I didn't realize this until I was getting his quote about love, that he was not that far after Jesus. He was just like three hundred years after Jesus. And so many years ago, almost two thousand years ago, Saint Augustine wrote, my greatest desire in life is to be loved. To love.
23:41
He said, I often confuse lust with love. And lust isn't just an overindulgence and a craving for more and more, which just leads to emptiness. And what I really realized is what I was looking for was love. And he said, at one time, I was even in love with love. Do you remember being a teenager just being in love with the idea of love?
24:07
He went on to say, finally, he did fall in love and he was loved back by God. And he said, I really think that God, God, my father, is the only one who can love me fully and truly and unconditionally. That is the kind of love I wanna talk about today. I believe that every single one of us, every daughter of the king, can experience that kind of love by taking actions the father requires of us. And there's three action steps that we can take.
24:45
The first one is understand his love. To understand our father helps us to understand his love. The second one is to receive his love. To choose to receive his love. And the final one is to choose to live in love.
25:08
Now why do we have to activate what we have already been given as Christians? Well, Paul said in Philippians two twelve, and he was talking to the believers in Philippians. He said, work out your salvation. And in the Greek, Paul isn't saying work for your salvation. We know that's just a gift.
25:32
It's a present. You don't work for a present. Someone just gives you a present because they want you to have it. Paul said you have to work out your salvation. You have to work out or activate what's already been deposited in you.
25:48
And that's part of our journey as Christians. We have to work out truth. We have to work out love. We have to work out grace. And God has already given it to us, but we have to choose to activate it.
26:03
So under understanding our father and how much he loves us, it's just so interesting because before I teach something, God always gives me great conversations or experiences about the topic I'm studying. And just after having some really heartbreaking conversations with Christians and realizing they don't feel loved by the Father. And why is that when they've been in the Word, when they go to church, when they go to Bible study? I had a conversation with a 70 year old man who's been in the word probably fifty years, and he doesn't think God loves them. I found that absolutely heartbreaking because that is not my Abba Father.
26:56
And I was reading a book called Pure Grace that I disagree with some of the things in the book, but the one thing that really jumped out to me is the the author said that across America, our churches have been overmothered and under fathered. And I thought, wow, what a great statement. And he went on to say that it's easy for us as Christians to to claim Jesus and to kinda get our brain around him because he was a human and he was God perfect and he took a beating for us and even died for us. And now he sits at the right hand of the father interceding for us so we can kinda work through that and feel close to Jesus. We can pretty much understand the Holy Spirit.
27:48
Even though there are extreme beliefs about the Holy Spirit, most of us can say yes. The Holy Spirit is my comforter. He brings back to memory verses that I've read before. He gives me that check-in my spirit to say, don't don't get involved in that sin. That's only gonna hurt you.
28:08
So we kinda get a grasp on the Holy Spirit, but I think, if we're really honest, so many of us have this picture of the father as this stern, powerful, usually disapproving and somewhat disappointed in you kind of father. That is not the father that you and I worship. And I was thinking about this and I was praying, Lord, I know that comes from circumstances and things not going well for us sometimes, but why is it that when we hear the truth, we don't embrace your love? And he it was amazing because he led me right to Ephesians six eleven through 12, where it says, put on the full armor of God. In other words, guard yourself because you have to take a stand against the devil's schemes.
29:06
And I was having a conversation with my friend, Janet, about what a schemer the enemy, is. And I looked up that word in the Greek. This was powerful. It means that his schemes are methodical, and it it is a systematic plan and program. A systematic plan and program of action.
29:31
Wow. I mean, think about that. The enemy has a plan for you, and so does does God. And what is God's plan for you? He tells us in Jeremiah twenty nine eleven, my plan is to prosper you and to give you hope and a future, not to harm you.
29:50
But he also tells us what the enemy's plan is. What is the enemy's plan for all of us? To better us? To love us? No.
30:01
He says, my plan is to destroy you and your walk, to harm you, to do anything he can against us. That's his plan because he's the father of lies. So let's unpack some of the lies that he uses based based on our past experiences or based on circumstances or based on what other people have done to us. What are some of the lies that we need to root out and replace with truth? Number one, that God is a distant God, that he is not personally watching over you and personally caring about your little details in life.
30:42
My son came home one semester and he had a professor that he just loved, and he's studying government and history. And he said this professor opened his eyes that almost all of our founding fathers were deists. And a deist is one who believes in God, but believes God is distant and not really involved. And my son said, Mom, maybe I'm a deist. And I was, you know, after I choked him my food, I was like, you have been raised in the truth, Grayson.
31:18
You can say whatever you want, but you are no deist. You have confessed Jesus Christ as your savior. He is your personal lord. And I want you to pray about that and consider what you're saying. God is not distant.
31:33
Psalm one forty five eighteen says, the Lord is close to all who call upon him. He says, you just call me and I'm there. You need something? I'll be there. Call upon me.
31:46
One of my favorite verses, this is a must memorized verse, Zephaniah three seventeen. The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with his love.
32:01
He will rejoice over you with singing. Does that sound like a distant father? One who wants to sing over you, who wants to save you, who is with you, who just delights in you. That is not a distant father. That is a close father.
32:20
Another lie that we need to replace with truth is God is pretty much disapproving of me. I think that oftentimes the real truth is we know that we're not living exactly how God wants us to live, so we are disapproving of our own behavior. But God is not disapproving of you as his daughter. Paul, who had to work through some big big time issues when he became a believer because of the horrible things he did. Paul wrote in Romans eight one, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
33:01
Did Paul say, well, there's a little for some of you, or, well, I hope there's no condemnation for you. He said, there is none. There is no condemnation. And what does that word condemnation mean? That word means that I stand guilty, that I stand in need of being reprimanded, that I am not totally cleaned up before the Lord.
33:25
Paul says the blood of Jesus wiped you clean. There is no condemnation for you as a daughter of the king. He just adores you because you're his. And why does he love us so much? Jeremiah thirty one three says, I have loved you with an everlasting love, and I have drawn you to me with loving kindness.
33:49
Another lie that we need to replace with truth is, He only loves me when I'm behaving properly and performing for him. Now, how many of you are the oldest children in your family? Okay. There's something about us oldest children, because I'm an oldest child, we are performers. We want people to say, Good job.
34:14
You worked hard. I can remember no greater pleasure than bringing a good report card home to my parents because I knew they were going to be happy. But our God is not like that. He loves me regardless of whether I'm performing for him or not because it's not about me. Lamentations three twenty two, I love this verse too.
34:41
Because of the Lord's great love, I am not consumed, for his compassions never fail. And some translations say, his mercies never fail. They are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness. And I was thinking about this, I thought, man, every single morning I wake up, God is like, here you go, Deborah.
35:04
My mercies are new for you for this day, and I'll have mercies for you tomorrow and the next day because great is my faithfulness. His mercies are new every morning. He doesn't say Jeremiah doesn't say in limitations, God's gonna give you mercies if you're being a good girl. He says, no. You're my child.
35:25
I love you every morning. My mercies are gonna be there for you. Great is my faithfulness. I think this is the thing about performing or just knowing you're in God's will. We're motivated to do it because we just feel better.
35:41
I don't like myself when I know I'm not bringing glory to God. I don't feel good about myself, but God still loves me. I love James McDonald. He's a great teacher. He says, God does not have favorites, but God does have intimates.
36:00
God does have those who are intimately close to him. And the greatest visual of that for me is Isaiah 4nine 16, where God says, see, I have engraved you on the palm of my hand. You meaning his child. Not you, the one who's doing so many good things, but just you. You're my kid.
36:22
I love you, good and bad. Now going back to Paul, just thinking about Paul and how Paul either directly or indirectly murdered people who followed Christ. Can you imagine just getting past that guilt once you became a believer? And then yesterday, I was somehow ended up in Acts, and I don't recall reading this, and it just really struck me how it said that Paul was going door to door, knocking on doors, and if you confessed that you were following Christ, man and woman, he dragged you out and put you in prison. As the kids were probably screaming, Paul, don't take my mom.
37:03
Don't take my dad. And no doubt, they were crying for mercy. Paul had no mercy then as a pharisee. He put him in prison. And don't you think that after Paul became a believer, sometimes he would hear those cries or see those faces of people?
37:20
And yet, Paul wrote in Romans eight one, there is no condemnation for me now because God has forgiven me. And later on in chapter eight and verse 15, Paul wrote to us, because he worked this out himself, he said, You do not have a spirit of fear anymore. In other words, don't fear the past, anything that you did. Don't do that. Don't fear tomorrow.
37:50
If you read if watch you the news, we have a lot to be fearful for, don't we? Paul says don't. You know why? Because you have received God's spirit because he adopted you as his children, and by him we say what? We say, Abba.
38:08
Abba father. Wow. That is so powerful because in the English, we don't even have a word for Abba. Abba is just this really tender, compassionate, Papa God, Father. And Paul said, I know he loves me so much.
38:32
He forgave such ugliness that I did, and he continues to show me his love every day, and that's why I say, Abba, Father. That is the Father that we worship. What a loving Father. Another thing that we need to just work out in our mind is that the Lord is good to me when I deserve his goodness, and he brings punishment upon me when I am bad. You guys, you know that's not true.
39:05
Really bad things happen to really good people, and really good things happen to really bad people. That is just the world we live in. God says in Psalm one forty five, I am good to everyone, and I shower my compassion in all creation. He is good to everyone because he is good, not because everyone else is good. Years ago, my son, when we were in California, had a bunch of buddies over and they had these they looked like huge water balloon guns, but they were water balloon launchers.
39:43
So they'd fill up water balloons, put them in these big launcher things, and they would go forever. And I told the boys, I said, Okay, there was a big hill behind our house. You boys can go in the hill. Don't shoot my windows. Don't shoot anybody with those.
39:58
Just go in and make some targets over in the Hill. Well, they're out there playing and I get a phone call from my neighbor, Mrs. Kim. And Mrs. Kim is this remarkable lady.
40:11
She's older, she's a widow, she's from Asia, but she goes back to Asia all the time sharing the gospel in the most creative and incredible ways. And missus Kim calls and she says, Deborah, I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm having a family barbecue, and we are getting bombed. And I was like, what do you mean? She is like, well, just come look. And I look over the fence, and I was like, oh my gosh.
40:44
So I screamed, Grayson, get in this house. So he comes in the house with his buddies. I'm like, what happened to don't shoot anybody, especially our neighbor, missus Kim, and her barbecue? And they were like, oh, I mean, well, actually, Grace's first thing was, mom, you can't believe how accurate these things are. And I was like, oh, my gosh.
41:05
So I said, okay. You guys are gonna sit down. Every one of you are gonna write an apology note. And when her company leaves, you're gonna go over and personally apologize, give her your note and ask her how you can help clean up and what chores you can do. So her company leaves and they go over and they're over there forever, and I'm thinking, Oh my gosh, what is she making them do?
41:31
Finally, they come back and they're just in this great mood. I'm like, woah, what does she make you do? And does she accept your apology? Grace said, mom, she didn't even care about our nose. She said, boys, come on in, and she had this big platter of cookies and milk.
41:45
And we just sat there and we talked and she told us stories about her missions trip, and it was just so much fun. And I was like, okay, guys. Time out for a second. You realize you got cookies and milk not because you were good, but because Mrs. Kim is so good.
42:08
You get that, right? And I often think, Kajas gives me so much, the air I breathe, the water I drink, not because I am good, but because He is that kind of Abba. His mercies are just new every day. He has a fresh set for me and new every day. Isn't he amazing, our Abba?
42:33
Well, you know, we can understand all that about God's love, but unless we choose to receive it, it's not going to matter. It's not going to make any difference in our life. And how do you fall in love anyways? I mean, what is real love based on? Real love is based on intimacy and relationship.
43:01
I can't love you if I never talk to you, if I never share my problems with you, if I never listen to your problems. Real love is talking and laughing and crying, or just being still with one another. That's what real love is. Real love isn't looking at someone and saying, Gee, Shelley, I love you because of what you do for me. Real love is just looking at someone and saying, I love you just because you are so amazing and so fun and so loyal.
43:35
That's what real love is. Real real love is it's not about what someone does for you. And I don't think we can receive God's love if we go to him with the objective of what is God gonna do for me? Even if we're asking for guidance, real love starts with, I just wanna know you, God. I want to know this amazing God that is so full of grace and mercy and faithfulness and loyalty and tender care for me.
44:08
When I was writing this, I had Moody Radio on one day and this lady just caught my attention because she wrote a book called something like God Loves Ugly. Did any of you guys hear that? And I was like, Oh, that's interesting. God loves ugly. But then she was sharing how her whole life she felt so ugly.
44:29
And because of things that had happened into her life, she turned to food to make her feel better, which just in turn made her feel uglier. And she said that the whole Christian thing wasn't working for her, until one day she just reached a really bad point of despair. And she said, she prayed to the Father, Okay, if you really love me, I'm going to be intentional about having an intimate relationship with you. And I love what she said. She said, Do you know what intimacy means?
45:12
Into me, see. And she told the father, I know you know everything anyways, but I'm inviting you into me, see. And help me work out these areas that are just strongholds and that I'm in bondage to. And she said she prayed too, May I see into you. And he began to show her and minister to her while she was in the Word.
45:42
And she said it was the only thing that finally changed her and healed her. Having the intentionality to receive intimacy and allowing him to be intimate with you. God is not gonna barge through the door of your heart and say, Let's get going. He's gonna wait for that invitation because he is the perfect gentleman God. I think too, I was having a conversation with a Christian who came from an abusive childhood from her father, and she said, I just, I can't get there.
46:20
I cannot believe that my Abba father is just this father of amazing love and grace. And this was a hard truth for me to say, because she said, I just don't feel worthy worthy of it. And I said, You know what? You're not worthy and I'm not worthy. It's not about that.
46:45
It's are you willing to receive His love? It's not about worthiness, it's about willingness. Willingness because He is just ready. He stands on command to offer it. The Lord is much more concerned about us knowing loving Him than He is with our comfort.
47:09
My girlfriend and I were talking from California, and she's been in many of my Bible studies. And I had a really bizarre stretch of a few years where I was under some heavy persecution, just teaching God's Word. I look back on it now and I'm like, Wow, that was just really crazy stuff. This one session, these ladies drive from a far away church, and they would sit in class and interrupt me the entire time. And then another time, these ladies also came from another church, and they would wait for me afterwards, and they would say, Prove this point to me.
47:49
Where did you get this? We don't believe this is the Greek. And when that was all over, I had this lady, like, attack me after church on Sunday in the sanctuary. And I left and I said, I'm done. I don't wanna do this anymore.
48:06
I'm just trying to share my board and I'm just getting pelted left and right. And I was sitting in the kitchen crying and my kids came in and they said, mom, we don't want you to teach anymore because you're always crying now. And I was like, That's a pretty sad thing to hear you guys say. But you know what? I looked back on that time, and I realize I was at a real crossroads.
48:34
And I remember praying to the Lord and saying, Well, I feel like Peter. Where else am I gonna go? I've tried that other nonsense, and that really left me empty. You're the truth. Lord, will you help me?
48:51
Will you show me? Will you just love me me through this? Because I I don't wanna do it anymore. It was really amazing because through a friend, he gave me a book called A Heart Like His, and it's a story about David. And it's an incredible story about David's difficult journey.
49:15
And all David did was obey God, especially in the beginning with Saul. And then he gave me another book called The Tale of Three Kings. If you guys have not read that book, it is just a classic, great book. And I felt like the Lord just loved me through that period. And I told my friend on the phone, because she said, Why did God allow those bizarre things to happen?
49:38
And I said, You know what? I thank Him for that. Because it was through that time I felt His love like I never have felt it. And He ministered to me, and he spoke to me in such powerful ways. And he he knew that I needed to grow up too because I was the kind of person I wouldn't confront things.
50:02
I'd run before I would confront. And he taught me how to confront without compromising truth, but still showing compassion and love. And now I don't get that icky stomachache every time I have to confront, because in life you have to confront. It's just part of life. And he also taught me that he was much more concerned about me seeing him work, seeing him show his love for me than he was about my comfort.
50:31
And I thank Him for that time because nothing is gonna separate me from the love of God. Nothing and no one. Not ever. You know, I I just wanna say that I I know it's possible that you may have never tasted and seen how good the Lord is and how much He loves you? Well, today's the day.
50:59
Choose to receive His love today. Choose to root out any of those doubts and lies and replace them with His truth. You know, practically speaking, I always say this because it just works. I write His promises on index cards. I have so many different index cards for different seasons in my life, whatever I'm going through, and I just keep these on my kitchen sink, in my kitchen bathroom, and I just constantly drink his nourishing water.
51:35
And it just comforts me and calms me down and keeps me centered. And listen to beautiful praise music when you're not feeling God's love. Call a friend to pray with you, a trusted friend. God loves you and he wants you to know his love, but we have to choose to receive it. Right?
51:55
And finally, after receiving his love, we have to live in his love. Jesus himself wrote in John sixteen thirty three, Here on this earth, you will have many trials and sorrows, but take heart because I've overcome the world. I Jesus was writing that to his children. He was saying, just because you belong to me doesn't mean it's gonna be all rainbows and lollipops. You're gonna have problems and trials and sorrows, but I have overcome the world.
52:29
And John, who heard Jesus say that and wrote it, wrote later on in first John four sixteen. John wrote, we know how much God loves us because we have put our trust in his love. John said, I'm trusting that he loves me no matter what's happening to me, and no matter what it is when I give it to him, he's moving and he's working for good because that is my Abba. So we draw close to God. That's how we live and love.
52:59
And of course, drawing close will just will naturally want to obey him. But I think the other thing where we kind of fall short sometimes because we get so carried away in our own little life, you have got to give love. It goes back to the greatest commandment, love the Lord your God and then love others. And God tells us how to love others. He says love them with your time, with your talents, and with your treasures.
53:29
God, pray for opportunities to love someone. God will give you many all day long. We have to give. You know, God says you're more blessed to give than receive. I can't tell you how many times I've been kind of stressed with time, and I've committed to doing something for someone, and I'm like, okay, I'm just gonna do this and get back to what I need to be doing.
53:53
And then I walk away going, oh my gosh, I wanted to bless them, and I walk away as the one who is blessed. Because this is a natural law with God. The more love I give, the deeper and greater my capacity is to receive his love. If I don't give love, I limit my capacity to receive my father's love. I don't want that.
54:21
So maybe if you're not feeling like you're in love or he loves you, maybe just in your quiet time ask the Lord, Am I loving other people the way you want me to, Lord? Am I saying no? Am I not even seeing needs that I could meet? I love this quote, and no one knows who to attribute the quote to, but it says, To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you just might be the world. Isn't that amazing?
54:51
We can make such a difference. I was thinking about Paul's definition of love in one Corinthians 13 and just praying over it. And I just wanna close with just what the Lord put in my heart about love. In Christianity, what does love look like? Love welcomes, and then it actually engages.
55:15
Love does not ignore you if you're a little different or even a little difficult. Real love focuses on the good in others. We all have good and bad, but I'm going to choose to see the good in you. It leaves the judging up to the one true judge, God. Real love accepts you just where you are, but hopes in where you can go.
55:39
Real love always hopes for the best in you, and you've heard the saying, A friend will cry when you cry, but a real friend will celebrate with you when you succeed. And that is real love too. Real love looks for opportunities to show kindness and always extends forgiveness, and real love protects. Do you protect others? Do you protect their reputation or their family's reputation when you can?
56:09
Do you protect their feelings? Real love never loses faith and never gives up. Even if it means putting boundaries and not engaging personally with someone, real love never gives up and praying for them. Love perseveres. Real love perseveres in the Father's love, and it perseveres in loving others.
56:36
Your Abba loves you. Don't go through this life and not experience that. Thank you, Lord, so much for your amazing word. Thank you that your word says you knit every one of us together and you desire a relationship with us. May we take the time, Lord, just to sit with you and share with you, to laugh with you and cry with you, to eat with you.
57:09
May we wake up in the morning and say thank you, Lord, for your mercies for this day. Great is your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, amen.
57:47
Speaker 2We realize that, and we want to be very respectful of your time. And we have gone over today. We would love if you can stay and worship, but we understand if you need to slip out. Father, we thank you that you dance and sing over us all day, all night. Thank you for your protection.
1:04:36
Speaker 3You paint the morning sky with miracles in mind my hope will always stare for you hold me in your hand lord

Speaker 2Father, we thank you for this time together. Thank you for Deborah and her teaching. We thank you that you love us so much, Abba. In Jesus' holy and holy name. Amen.
