What does First B Jackson teach about born blind?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on the man born blind in John 9 begins where Jesus begins: by refusing the assumption that suffering is a punishment. When the disciples asked whose sin caused the blindness, Jesus flatly rejected the whole framework. Pastor Carl has taught this plainly across multiple messages: the man's blindness was not a verdict against him or his parents. It was an occasion for the works of God to be displayed.

The healing itself was an act of simple, deliberate obedience. Jesus made mud, applied it to the man's eyes, and gave him two instructions: go and wash. The man went, he washed, and he came back seeing. Pastor Carl has pointed to that pattern as a picture of how the Christian life often works. The response Jesus asks for is not complicated. It is plain compliance with what He says.

What followed the healing is just as instructive. The man was questioned by his neighbors, interrogated by the Pharisees, and finally thrown out of the synagogue, but his story never changed because it did not need to. He told what he knew from his own firsthand experience. Pastor Carl held that up as a model of Christian testimony: you do not need a theological argument when you can point to a life that has been visibly transformed. And when Jesus heard the man had been put out, He went looking for him, found him, and the man worshiped Him. The progression of the man's understanding, from calling Jesus 'the man called Jesus' to saying 'I believe, Lord,' is itself part of what the passage teaches about how an ordinary person comes to know who Jesus is.

The passage taught · 1 Peter 2

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,

2 as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that with it you may grow,

3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious:

4 coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
