What does First B Jackson teach about end times?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, teaching on the end times consistently starts with a practical question: what does Jesus actually tell his people to do while they wait? Pastor Carl, preaching through Mark 13, laid out that frame clearly. Jesus opens the Olivet Discourse not with a timeline but with a warning, do not let anyone mislead you, and he repeats that command throughout. Wars, famines, earthquakes, false messiahs, these are the beginning of birth pains, not the end itself. Carl pointed out that even the hard news in that chapter gets reframed by Jesus. Persecution becomes an opportunity to bear witness, and the good news must be preached to all nations before the end comes. The chapter closes with two parables urging watchfulness, and the ground under all of it is simple: no one knows the day or the hour.

Pastor Matt, working through 2 Thessalonians 2, was direct about the limits of what can be known. The passage about the man of lawlessness and the restraining force is notoriously difficult, and Matt walked through respected scholars, including Augustine, Leon Morris, and F.F. Bruce, all of whom admitted they could not fully explain it. He traced a long line of date-setters and prophetic systems, from Charles Taze Russell through Hal Lindsey and Harold Camping, and named the pattern plainly: each system built confident claims on exactly the passages that honest scholars say they cannot pin down. Fear drives that kind of reading. Where the Bible is vague, he said, we can afford to be vague. The passage that matters most in that same chapter is not the mysterious man of lawlessness but the clear theological anchor Paul drops in verses 13 through 17: God chose His people from the beginning to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and belief in the truth.

Van's message from Joel 3 brought the end-times theme to its sharpest point. Joel's final chapter shows God gathering the nations into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, a name that means the valley of God's judgment, and the imagery of the sickle and winepress in verse 13 is picked up in Revelation 14, where the winepress of God's wrath runs for nearly 180 miles. Van was direct about what that winepress means for those who are in Christ: at communion, the cup points back to exactly this, Jesus taking the full weight of God's wrath so that his people do not have to. The only thing that separates anyone from being on the wrong side of that judgment is Jesus, not effort, not appearance. The same Lord who roars from Zion and shakes the earth is also a refuge and a stronghold for his people.

The passage taught · Acts 2

1 Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.

4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.
