What does First B Jackson teach about faith healing?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, teaching on faith healing starts not with a technique or a formula but with a person and a question. In the 'As You Are Going' message, Pastor Ray worked through the healing of two blind men in Matthew and noted that before Jesus did anything, he asked them directly: 'Do you believe that I am able to do this?' Ray sat with that question because he said it is a real one for everyone, not just two first-century men. Praying to a God you do not genuinely believe can act is a problem Jesus surfaces on purpose. When He healed them, He said it was done according to their faith, tying the question directly to the outcome.

What comes through consistently in the teaching is that Jesus heals differently each time. Mud and clay once, a direct touch another time, a word spoken from a distance elsewhere. Ray observed that he thinks Jesus did this deliberately, because people naturally reach for a step-by-step method. What Jesus insists on instead is faith aimed at a person, not a process. Pastor Rob made a similar point in the Bartimaeus message, describing faith not as something a person musters up on their own but as a gift from God, a divine persuasion that grows as it is put into practice. The father from Mark 9 who said 'Lord, I believe, help my unbelief' was offered as a companion for anyone who finds that harder than it sounds.

The Old Testament background also shapes how First B understands these moments. Ray opened the 'God Has Visited His People' message in First Kings 17 and Second Kings 4, where Elijah and Elisha each pray over a dead child and God restores them, with the child handed back to the mother both times. He wanted those stories in the room before the Gospel texts arrived, because the pattern they establish is the same one Jesus continues: compassion that crosses every boundary people normally keep, directed by faith toward a God who is genuinely able to act.
