What does First B Jackson teach about fear?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on fear takes it seriously as something real rather than something to be dismissed. Mark Hall, one of the church's elders, shared from his own life that fear operates on more than one level. There is the sudden, physical kind, the kind that forces action, and there is the deeper, spiritual kind that can actually move a person toward God rather than away from him. For Mark, it was the fear of judgment at nine years old that brought him to belief, and John 3:18 was the verse that made it concrete: hearing that anyone who does not believe has already been judged was not a threat to run from but a truth that led him straight to the altar.

The teaching in Acts 27, worked through by Pastor Jon, puts fear in a different setting: 276 people on a ship in a nor'easter, with no sun, no stars, and no way to navigate, until Luke says all hope of being saved was slowly abandoned. What Jon drew out of that passage is that God does not wait for circumstances to calm down before He speaks. Paul received the angel's word in the middle of the storm, not after it. The promise was not that the ship would be saved but that every person on it would be, and Paul acted on that word, breaking bread and giving thanks to God in front of everyone while it was still dark.

Both of these messages arrive at a similar place from different directions: fear, whether it comes from a storm at sea or from the weight of your own record before God, is not the last word. The teaching here does not minimize what the fear feels like. It simply keeps pointing to what God says inside it.

Taught from John 3:18 · Acts 27:1-44

The passage taught · Acts 1

1 The first book I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,

2 until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

3 To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God’s Kingdom.

4 Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.
