What does First B Jackson teach about feeding the 5000?
Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At First B Jackson, the teaching on the feeding of the five thousand keeps returning to a single observation: what looks like far too little, placed in Jesus' hands, is enough. Pastor Ray walked through all four Gospel accounts in sequence, letting the details of each one speak for themselves. In every version the situation is the same. The disciples see the crowd, do the math, and the math does not work. Five loaves and two fish cannot feed five thousand men plus the women and children nobody counted. The reasonable conclusion is to send the crowd away. Jesus says no.
What Pastor Ray kept drawing the congregation's attention to is the pattern Jesus follows every time. He looked up to heaven, gave thanks, broke the loaves, and kept giving through the disciples' hands until everyone was full and twelve baskets were left over. The giving of thanks came before there was any visible reason to give it, in front of a crowd that had no reason yet to believe it was enough. John's account adds the detail of the boy who had planned ahead and was willing to hand over what he had. His five barley loaves and two small fish were what Jesus worked with. That detail got real time in the teaching: one ordinary person who showed up with something small and gave it over. The parallel from 2 Kings 4, where Elisha fed a hundred men from twenty loaves and had food left over, was brought in to show that this pattern runs through Scripture and that Jesus was being marked as the prophet Moses promised in Deuteronomy.
The teaching tied this to ordinary life directly. The miracle did not bypass the disciples. They reclined the crowd, carried the baskets, and distributed what Jesus broke. The abundance passed through human hands. Pastor Ray also connected the moment of thanksgiving before the meal to the ordinary blessing said before eating, a small practice that carries the same posture: gratitude before the outcome is visible. The thread the teaching kept returning to is captured in the title of one of the messages on this passage: little is much when God is in it.
