What does First B Jackson teach about giving generously?
Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At First B Jackson, the teaching on generous giving is rooted in what God has already done. In the Christmas Eve service, the offering was introduced by pointing to John 3:16: God gave His Son, and generosity toward others flows from that act. The gifts collected that evening went to the church's local benevolence fund, which helps people in immediate need, whether that is a bill, gas, rent, or a room for the night. The speaker was clear that no one was obligated to give, framing the invitation around gratitude rather than obligation.
Ray McDaniel brought a different angle to the same subject when he worked through the gift list in Romans 12. On the gift of giving, Ray drew attention to the Greek word behind the word usually translated "generously," explaining that it carries the sense of simplicity and sincerity, giving without an ulterior motive. Generosity, in that reading, is not about the size of the gift but about the absence of a hidden agenda behind it.
Both treatments share the same foundation. Giving is understood here as a response to mercy and grace already received, not a way of earning anything. It belongs to a larger vision of the body of believers in which, as Ray put it, each member belongs to all the others, cutting directly against a posture that is self-sufficient or self-centered.
