What does First B Jackson teach about god's love?
Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At First B Jackson, the teaching on God's love starts with the recognition that it is not something we earn or discover on our own. Pastor Phil, preaching from 1 John 4:19, anchored the whole conversation in a single line: God pursued us while we were still sinners, and that changes everything about why and how we love. The love of God is not a feeling to be manufactured but a reality to be received, and because God actually lives in believers through His Spirit, they become a conduit for that love rather than its source.
Pastor Van pressed deeper into the dimensions of that love through Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21. He noted that Paul prays for his readers to have the strength to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of Christ's love, and that Paul calls this a group project, something the whole church works on together because no single person can take it in alone. The love surpasses knowledge, which means grasping it is not a purely intellectual exercise but a matter of the inner being being strengthened and Christ dwelling more fully in the heart through faith.
Across several messages, the teaching returns to the same insistence: God's love is active and pursuing, not passive and distant. Pastor Aaron showed that pattern in Hosea, where God does not simply wait for Israel to crawl back but says, "Therefore, behold, I will allure her," pursuing the people who had walked away from Him. Pastor Greg McDaniel made the same point from John 3:16 on Christmas Eve, describing a God who does not rule with violent power but steps into human history out of love for the people He made.
