What does First B Jackson teach about gospel explained?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First Baptist Jackson, the teaching on the gospel starts at creation and works forward. Pastor Carl has laid out the shape of it in plain terms: God made human beings in love and for relationship with himself, our sin broke that relationship, and no amount of good effort or religious striving could repair it permanently. That is the bad news that gives the good news its weight. God's answer was to send Jesus as the perfect, once-for-all sacrifice, dying in place of the unrighteous and rising again. The resurrection, Carl has said, is the hinge on which the entire gospel turns.

Carl has also pressed the congregation on whether they can say what they believe in a clear sentence. He has pointed out that if you cannot state the gospel plainly, it is hard to share it. His own professor never used the word 'gospel' without explaining it, preferring to define it as God's message of love and forgiveness available through Christ, and Carl has borrowed that habit. The key text he keeps returning to is Romans 1:16-17, where Paul says he is not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. Carl has set that alongside 1 Corinthians 1:18 and said the two passages are making the same point: the message of the cross sounds like foolishness to some and is the power of God to others.

The resurrection is where all of this lands. Carl has walked through John 20:1-18 to show that the empty tomb is not a footnote but the foundation. Because Jesus rose, the promise he made before raising Lazarus, 'I am the resurrection and the life,' stands as a declaration of who he is. And the promise in John 14:19 holds with it: 'because I live, you will also live.' Carl has invited anyone still on the edge of belief not to wait, and he has asked the congregation to remember what it felt like the first time the good news actually clicked for them personally.

The passage taught · 1 Corinthians 15

1 Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand,

2 by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
