What does First B Jackson teach about grace vs law?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First Baptist Jackson, the teaching on grace versus law starts with a clear diagnosis: the law is good at one thing, and it is not rescue. Pastor Mark, preaching through Galatians 5, described Paul's letter as a passionate argument that Christ sets people free from both ditches, legalism on one side and license on the other. The Galatian believers had been pressured by teachers who insisted that keeping the law of Moses was a requirement for salvation, and Paul's answer was that accepting that requirement means agreeing to keep all 613 commandments, all the time, and it means treating the grace of Christ as insufficient. The Judaizers were adding a condition to faith, and Paul says that addition severs a person from grace entirely.

Pastor Ray, preaching from Galatians 4 and Romans 3, built the same case through the lens of the Incarnation. God sent His Son at exactly the right moment, into exactly the condition the law had exposed: human helplessness. The law functions like a guardian or tutor, Ray explained, precise and honest about where we fail, but powerless to fix the failure. Christ was born under the law so He could fulfill it completely and make that perfect record available to anyone who would believe. The gift that arrives with that is not a lighter version of the same slavery but adoption, the freedom to call God "Abba, Father."

Both teachers press toward the same narrow road Paul calls freedom. It is not the freedom to ignore God, and it is not the exhausting attempt to earn standing before Him. It is trust, active and ongoing, that what Christ accomplished is genuinely enough. The life that grows out of that trust, the fruit of the Spirit, looks like Jesus rather than like a person trying very hard to look like Jesus.
