What does First B Jackson teach about holy spirit power?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, teaching on Holy Spirit power begins with what God has already done, not with what believers need to do. In 2 Peter 1, Pastor Josh showed that God's divine power, which he identified with the Holy Spirit, has already given believers everything they need for a godly life. That provision comes before any instruction. The list of qualities Peter calls believers to grow in, things like self-control, perseverance, and love, are not achievements to earn but the fruit of the Spirit already at work in a person. The same logic runs through Ephesians 3, where Paul prays from prison not for physical relief but that his readers would be strengthened through the Holy Spirit in the inner man. The point made from that passage was plain: this power is not our own and is not for our own purposes.

The teaching here is that the Spirit's work happens in the inner person first, and that real change flows outward from there, not the other way around. The Ephesians 3 message drew on the contrast between Eve and Mary to illustrate the difference between independence and submission, and connected setting the mind on the Spirit directly to the kind of transformation Paul is praying for. Abiding in Christ, bearing fruit, growing in love, none of it happens apart from the Spirit making His home in a believer's life.

What this church holds together is that the Holy Spirit is not an occasional resource to call on in crisis but the ongoing power behind everything a believer does. Whoever does not show these qualities growing is, as Peter puts it, nearsighted and blind, willfully looking only at what is right in front of them. The Holy Spirit's power is the reason any godly life is possible at all, and the teaching consistently points back to that provision as the foundation rather than the finish line.

The passage taught · 2 Peter 1:1-11

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue;

4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.
