What does First B Jackson teach about jesus authority?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on Jesus' authority starts with the recognition that it is not a metaphor or a theological abstraction. Carl has pointed to Matthew 28, where Jesus says all authority in heaven and earth has been given to him, and described the miracles in Mark as the evidence for that claim. The crowds said Jesus taught with real authority, the sick were healed at his word, and demons obeyed him. Carl noted he could not think of any spiritual figure in history who carries that kind of authority.

The confrontation recorded in Matthew, Mark, and Luke during Holy Week presses the question from another angle. Pastor Carl walked through the moment when the chief priests, scribes, and elders challenged Jesus directly in the temple, right after he had overturned the money-changers they had sanctioned. Jesus responded not by asserting his credentials but by asking whether John's baptism was from heaven or from men. The point, as Pastor Carl showed, was that an honest answer to that question already answered their question about Jesus, because John's whole message pointed to him. The leaders chose "we don't know" because both honest answers cost them something, and fear of the crowd won out over the truth.

The parables Jesus told that same day extended the indictment. Tax collectors and prostitutes had believed John, changed course, and entered the kingdom ahead of the religious establishment. The parable of the vine growers carried the same charge further back into Israel's history, ending with the killing of the owner's own son and the cornerstone image from Psalm 118. In all of it, the teaching at First B Jackson holds that Jesus' authority was not given to him by any institution, and the people with the most institutional standing were the ones least willing to recognize it.
