What does First B Jackson teach about lies we believe?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on lies we believe starts with the recognition that there are two competing fathers making a claim on every person: the father of lies and the father of truth. Deborah brought this into focus through her own story of walking away from faith in college, spending a decade chasing the American dream, and ending up empty. It was not a dramatic moment but a frightening night at a neighbor's house that finally broke through, and it was her own father who named what was happening plainly. The choice, he told her, belongs to each person.

Deborah grounded the whole discussion in Jesus before Pilate in John 18, where Jesus says He came into the world to testify to the truth, and Pilate responds with a dismissive question that has echoed ever since. She argued that the same dismissal is now woven into education from kindergarten through college, where children are taught that truth is relative. She pushed back on that directly, pointing to a conversation with a scientist friend who said her own research depended on the existence of fixed, observable truth. When people drift far enough from reality, Deborah said, common sense goes with it.

The path back, she taught, begins with a spiritual awakening to truth, which is the first step the early Christians took toward rooting themselves in Christ. That awakening is not anxious or frantic. She opened the morning with the image of Jesus described in one word as relaxed, a peace that comes not from having circumstances figured out but from trusting God's control. The second step is purgation, purging out what God says is not His best, and Deborah was direct that every sin begins with a lie we have chosen to believe.

The passage taught · 2 Timothy 3

1 But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come.

2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good,

4 traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;
