What does First B Jackson teach about mission?
Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At First B Jackson, the teaching on mission starts with the conviction that the church does not invent its own purpose but receives it. In the messages from Acts and Luke, the recurring point is that God is already moving, and the church is called to move with Him. Pastor Josh traced a pattern through Acts where God's power advances, opposition arises from outside or inside the community, and the mission continues anyway. The opposition is not a sign that something has gone wrong. It is part of the pattern, and it has never stopped the word from going forward.
Pastor Carl, teaching from Luke 10, pressed the same idea from a different angle. The 72 were not volunteers acting on their own initiative. The word Jesus used for appointing them comes from the same Greek root as the word for workmanship in Ephesians 2, which means they were made what they are for this task. The urgency of the mission shaped everything, including how they traveled, how they entered homes, and where they stayed. Staying in one place long enough to be known was not incidental. It was part of how the message actually took root.
Eric Wacham, stepping in to preach from Luke 9, held up Christ's own clarity of mission as the model. Jesus knew who He was, knew what the mission would cost Him, and by Luke 9:51 had set His face toward Jerusalem without detour. Eric drew out three roadside exchanges where Jesus exposed divided loyalties and called people to put God's purpose ahead of comfort and obligation. The point was not that family and home do not matter, but that nothing should rank above what God has called a person to. All three messages land in the same place: mission is not a program the church runs. It is the shape of a life that has been given over to what God is already doing.
