What does First B Jackson teach about moses veil?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on Moses' veil starts with the moment in Exodus 34 when Moses came down Sinai with his face literally shining from being in God's presence. The people were afraid to look at him directly, and Moses put a veil over his face. What made the veil necessary, Pastor Ray and Pastor Mark both emphasized, was not the glory itself but the fact that it was fading. Moses was covering the diminishing light so the people would not watch it disappear.

Paul picks that image up in 2 Corinthians 3 and turns it into a contrast between the two covenants. The old covenant, written on tablets of stone and carrying genuine glory, was still a ministry of condemnation, because no one can stand before the law. The law shows people where they fail, but it holds no mercy. The new covenant surpasses it the way sunlight makes a candle look dim. Paul's point about the veil is that it remains over people's hearts when the Old Testament is read apart from Christ, and it is only lifted when someone turns to the Lord. Pastor Mark connected this to the moment the temple veil was torn from top to bottom at the crucifixion, the moment access to God was opened rather than hidden.

The destination of all of this, in the teaching at First B, is 2 Corinthians 3:18, where Paul says believers are being transformed from one degree of glory to another. Unlike the fading glory on Moses' face, the glory of the new covenant is not diminishing. Christians look at the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, and the Spirit actively conforms them, over the whole course of a life, into the image of Christ. Pastor Mark tied this to Romans 8:29, where God predestines believers to be conformed to the image of His Son. The veil is gone, the glory is permanent, and the transformation is ongoing.
