What does First B Jackson teach about peacemaking?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on peacemaking is rooted in James 3:13-18, where James describes wisdom from above as, among other things, peace loving and willing to yield. Pastor Scott worked through those qualities carefully, making the point that being willing to yield means deciding ahead of time to come disarmed, before any confrontation begins. That is not weakness. It is power held in reserve, the same meekness Pastor Scott defined as gentle strength that begins with God's inspiration and finishes by His direction and empowerment.

The contrast James draws is important to how First B understands this. The world's wisdom, rooted in jealousy and selfish ambition, produces disorder and evil without anyone having to try very hard. God's wisdom produces a harvest of righteousness, and peacemaking is part of what that harvest looks like in daily life. It shows up not as conflict avoidance but as a posture toward other people that is full of mercy, shows no favoritism, and carries no hidden agenda.

The clearest picture of that posture, both Pastor Scott and Pastor Ray pointed to, is Jesus at His arrest. He could have called thousands of angels at any moment and chose not to. He walked toward the cross on purpose, not because He lacked power, but because peacemaking at its deepest level is a choice made from strength, not from having no other option.

The passage taught · 1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.

2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am nothing.

3 If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud,
