What does First B Jackson teach about power of god?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on God's power starts not with what believers can accomplish but with what God has already done in raising Christ from the dead. Working through Ephesians 1, Pastor Mark showed that Paul's prayer for the church is not for comfort or favorable circumstances. It is that believers would come to know, in a deep and experiential way, the boundless greatness of God's power toward those who believe, a power that is present and available right now, day to day, not only on the far side of eternity.

That power is grounded in the resurrection. God raised Christ from death, seated him above every rule, authority, power and dominion in this age and the one to come, and then directed that same power toward the church. Pastor Mark pressed on this: the church is Christ's body and his fullness, and God chose the church, not military strength or political force, to carry his purposes forward in the world. There is no plan B.

The third message in this thread, taught by Carl, approaches the power of God from a different angle. Working through 1 Corinthians 1:18, Carl showed that Paul identifies the message of the cross as the very power of God, but only to those who are being saved. To those who are perishing, it registers as foolishness. No one reasons their way to it. The cross reaches people not because the argument is finally compelling enough, but because God acts, and that action is itself the power the passage is talking about.

  2. March 15, 2026 Be the Church God Wants to See in the World The pastor walks through Ephesians 1:15-23, the second longest sentence in the New Testament, exploring what it means for the church to be the living body of Christ in the world.
  3. July 20, 2014 The Message of the Cross Divides Carl teaches 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5, showing how the message of the cross divides all people into two groups and why God's "foolishness" surpasses human wisdom.
