What does First B Jackson teach about salvation by faith?
Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At First B Jackson, the teaching on salvation by faith starts with the conviction that no religious resume, no matter how impressive, earns a person standing before God. The sermon on Philippians 3 worked through Paul's own credentials, circumcision, tribal lineage, blameless law-keeping, and showed that when Paul met Jesus, every item he had counted as an asset flipped into the loss column. The speaker put it plainly: all of those positions, all of those achievements, dim to being, in the speaker's own words, "absolute scubula in the light of his glory." The righteousness Paul ends up with does not come from the law. It comes through faith, a gift, so that no one can boast. That phrase from Ephesians 2:8-9 sits behind the whole argument.
Pastor Josh worked through the same conviction from a different angle in his sermon on Romans 4, tracing Paul's argument back through Abraham's life in Genesis. Abraham had no special merit that drew God's attention. He simply trusted a word he could not yet verify, leaving for a place he had not been shown, and God credited that trust as righteousness. The life that followed was full of failure and detours, which is exactly the point: God did not credit righteousness to Abraham because Abraham earned it. Romans 4:20-21 says Abraham contemplated the impossibility of the promise and still did not waver, growing strong in faith and giving glory to God, fully assured that what God had promised He was also able to perform. That assurance, Pastor Josh taught, is where glory returns to God rather than staying with the person who believes.
Taken together, these messages describe salvation by faith as something that dismantles every other claim a person might make on God, religious or personal. Both sermons treat it not as one theme among many but as the thing the whole argument depends on.
