Watch or read it

In one paragraph

This Monday night gathering at First B Jackson continued the series through the book of James, working through chapter four, verses one through twelve. Carl led the group in a conversational style, with space at the end for anyone to share something from the passage that stood out to them. The evening opened with a meal prepared by Felix and Guadalupe, followed by worship and teaching. Carl opened...

Read together

  1. John 15 (partial verse) quoted to show that Jesus is always at work even when we do not see or feel it
  2. James 4:1-12 the passage the Monday night group has been studying together in conversation style

Talk about it

  1. Carl mentioned that Jesus said 'My Father is always at work to this very day, and I too am working.' When has it been hardest for you to believe that God is working, even when you couldn't see or feel it?
  2. The song repeats the idea that God is working even when we don't see it and even when we don't feel it. What is the difference between those two things for you, and which is harder to hold onto?
  3. Carl prayed that what we ask for would be 'in line with God's will.' How do you personally try to figure out whether what you're praying for lines up with what God wants?
  4. Carl asked, 'As we empty ourselves, what does God want to fill us up with?' What do you think needs to be emptied out before God can fill someone up?
  5. Carl invited everyone to share something from James 4:1-12 that grabbed them, a nugget he didn't mention or a word of testimony. Is there anything from that passage that stood out to you this week?
