0:00
Hey. Good morning. How are you? Isn't it good to see the sunshine?
0:06
And it's a little milder, so you don't feel like you're an ice block. I don't know. I I just want I just want you to wake up if you're not if you're not awake yet. And we have the opportunity again to just hang out with God. Sing praise to him.
0:23
Worship him. Adore him because he is worthy of it. And we were made to more than just exist, really. Jesus said, I've come that you might have life and life to the full measure. A full and abundant life.
0:38
Not a ho life, not a, life. But life to the full measure.
0:45
Right? What do you say
0:48
we stand up? We'll sing about it. Alright. Here in this worn and weary.
0:59
Here in this worn and weary land world. And And to to And Living water flowing through, living water flowing through. God, we thirst for more of you. Fill our hearts and flood our souls with one we're to thrive. Into your word, we're digging.
2:14
Into your word, we're digging deep. Know our father's heart. Into the world, we're reaching out to show them who you are. Living water, living water flowing through. God, we thirst for more of you.
2:39
Fill name on night, shine light, the sun may darkness run and light. We were made, and we know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives. It's time for us to more than just survive. We were made to thrive.
3:34
Amen. Y'all can have a seat. I have a a few announcements this morning. The connect hour happens between services. That's every single week.
3:45
We have coffee and usually donuts or something sweet and some fruity stuff too. Granola fruity stuff. We have Awana every Monday night starting at about six and they come in and play games and their scripture just poured into these kids' lives and a lot of volunteers come in and help out and it's just a lot of fun. It happens at the same time as Monday nights at First B is happening down the hall. Meal music and a message.
4:12
Tomorrow night.
4:13
Philippians four, dealing with conflict.
4:15
Woo hoo. Alright. Philippians four, Euodia and Centiki need to get along. Okay. Alright.
4:23
Very good. Overcoming Genesis Phobia is happening on Wednesday night and Allen right here in the green sweater is presenting and he will be talking about sedimentary rock layers and fossils. Do they really show that Earth is millions of years old and monkey business? Could we have apes as our ancestors? So, Alan's going to be talking about those two topics in a genesis overcoming Genesis phobia class.
4:47
06:30, Wednesday evening in the fellowship hall and then next week, are you going to show the movie Expelled? There, we've got the rights to to to show the movie Expelled if you want to come see that. That'll be the following week. There's a men's snowmobile retreat next weekend, February nineteenth through the twenty first up at Old Faithful Lodge. Kyle Knutson in the building.
5:08
That's two weekends from now. Very good. Okay. Thank you. That's good.
5:15
That gives me some time. First B Talent Show, that's actually this coming weekend. If you would like help putting it putting it together, see Renzi. If you'd like to perform in it, see Renzi. He has a sign up sheet in the back back there and see Renzi, not Carl, Renzy, okay?
5:34
It's a time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, a time to dance, a time to tap dance, a time to juggle, maybe recite poetry, stand up comedy, that's not working, is it? No. Actually, it's just a time to get together. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. Will there be cash prizes?
5:51
Nope. There will be no cash prizes, alright? It's just the time to get together and have fun. So, there's a sign up in the back. See Renzi if you want to do that.
6:00
Would you stand up and just greet one another warmly? A big smile on your face. Amen.
6:25
You're loving like radiant diamonds bursting inside you, we cannot contain you. Your love will surely come find us, be malted by. From the top, your love is light. Your love is radiant diamonds bursting inside them we cannot contain. Your love will surely come find us, like blazing rock fire, singing your name.
8:16
God of mercy, sweetener. Darkness, whose love is mighty and so much stronger, the king glory, the king above all kings. Who shakes the whole earth? Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder? Who leaves us breathless in all in wonder?
10:07
The king
10:38
that I would be set free. Oh, Jesus, I thank for all that you've done for me. Who
10:53
brings? You Who brings our chaos back into order? Who makes the orphan a son and daughter, the king of glory, the king above all kings. Who rules the nations with truth and justice shines like the sun in all of its brilliance. The king of glory, the king above all kings.
11:29
And this is amazing grace. Right? This is amazing grace. This isn't failing love. But how do you take my place?
11:46
How do you bear my cross? You would lay down your life. That I would be set free. Oh, Jesus, I sang for all that you've done for me. Alright.
12:10
We're gonna sing. Worthy is the lamb
12:11
who was slain. Worthy is the king who conquered the grave. Alright. You ready?
13:00
I'm I'm for all that you've done for me.
13:43
God, we do thank you for everything that you have done for us. Whether we know it right now in this room or not, you have you have loved us. You've created us. You've created us for you, and then you brought us, you've given us this way to have access to you, and it's through Jesus. And, Jesus, you gave your life for us, and I pray that if we've never if if someone hasn't ever heard that, they would know it now, how much you really do care and how much you really have cared to come and bring us life.
14:20
Amen. I'm gonna share a verse with
14:23
you here.
14:23
I wanna sing that song Thrive Again. But from Jeremiah 17, blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They're like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit.
14:48
That's who we are when we're in Christ. You know, that that's what he gives. He gives us life. We can then bear fruit. Amen?
14:56
Amen. Here in this worn and weary. In this worn and weary land where many a dream has died. I'm like a tree planted by the water that never will run dry. Living water flowing through, living living water flowing through.
15:28
God, we trust more of you. Fill our hearts and flood our souls with one than ordinary lives. It's time for us to do To the world we're reaching out, show them who you are. Let's sing that verse again. Okay?
16:36
It's so good. Right? Into your word, we're digging deep. To know our father's heart. And to the world we're reaching out, showing who you are.
16:53
Living water flowing through. Living water flowing through. God, we thirst for more of you. Fill our hearts and flood our souls one desire. Just
18:00
Amen. You all can be seated. I'll invite the frontline team to come forward here as we participate in the worship through giving us another way and worship, praise, give thanks. Let's pray. God, we are grateful.
18:17
Thank you for every every good and perfect gift. I guess I I can't help but when they sing this song, thinking about how Your plan your plan A is to let the world know who you are through through your followers and through your believers. You do that work of convincing and convicting but then it's us. We we're the ones to shine the light and if that light is gone dim, I pray God that you would light that fire once again so that the world can visibly see you through your believers. And it's nothing that we've done.
18:50
It's just remaining in you and being in you that does this. And having life and life to the full measure. Again, thank you for every gift that you give. Thank you, God, for every blessing. And as we give, it's like putting us in the offering plate.
19:08
Amen.
21:45
Amen. There they go. It's time for Peaks Children's Church downstairs. Goodness gracious. Had to wander most of the way to the back to find a seat.
22:01
Now, there are plenty of seats. So, this Sunday sermon, I I probably ought to just stop starting off with this one's going be a little weird because I think they're all going be a little weird, honestly. Romans one hundred sixteen and seventeen is a very, very, very theologically amazing two verses and it is kind of the theme of the letter Romans. I think it's the theme and we'll hit it over and over and over again. Kinda will come back to this a lot but I I covered 16 pretty thoroughly last week, I think and I have to admit, it was impromptu to ask a homework assignment last week.
22:44
I had considered it during the week at some point. I was like, what is this? And so, this sermon is somewhat a crowdsourcing sermon. In fact, I'm going to collect some crowdsourcing right now. I see one in the hand.
22:55
How are you? So, do y'all have these written out on pieces of paper? Because about 60 of you sent em by Email or by text or something like that. If you have a piece of paper and you have a 10 word gospel summary on it, please give it to me, okay? And you can do it.
23:10
Raise your hand during the sermon. I can move around. I have a mic. Okay. I am blown away by Paul and y'all know that.
23:21
We talk about it all the time. This letter is somewhat less passionate than the others. I've mentioned that a couple of times and it's not that it's not passionate. It's just somewhat less passionate and personal because he does not have, thank you. He does not have the the same kind of personal connection to this church because he's never been there and he explains that before we get to 16 but what he's saying in 16 is that he's not ashamed of the gospel.
23:48
Now, by this point, we've heard the term gospel six or seven times. We've heard what the gospel is about and how it goes several other times beyond that. It's based on Jesus. It's based on his death on the cross. It's based on God's gift.
24:02
It's all of these things but he mentions gospel right here and I ask y'all if you would to just do a 10 word gospel summary. So, that's what we're going to go over. For I'm not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes to the Jew first and to the Greek. So, I amended our slide a little bit, added some to it. The gospel, the message of the cross which is the gospel.
24:24
To everyone who believes is the power of God. For salvation, I like the unto salvation. It's directional. It's pointing you towards being saved. Thank you.
24:37
Some of y'all are doubling up and I know you are because the ones that Email me sent me four or five of em and I I got into the exercise myself. The Jew first, I thought, how am I going to divide this up? How are we going to categorize these things? Because this this could get interesting. Jew first, I thought I'd take the Old Testament references first.
24:55
People, somebody said, this is what's come to mind and I can't get it out of my mind. It's a little bit over 10 words. In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness, and trust is your strength. I love that. That's beautiful.
25:10
It's from Isaiah thirty fifteen. Unfortunately, Isaiah's a thousand years before the cross. In repentance and rest is your salvation and quietness and trust is your strength. God has always been this way. He's looking for a broken spirit and a contrite heart, right?
25:26
The rest of that verse is sad though. That's really nice and happy. Oh, this is what the sovereign lord says, the holy one of Israel says, in repentance and rest is your salvation and quietness and trust is your strength but you would have none of it. Ain't that just piercing? The Lord is my shepherd.
25:45
I shall not want. Somebody who comes to church here in the summertime but doesn't in the winter time got gets our Email and so he sent me one. He listened to the message and sent one in that said, hallelujah. On top of that, okay? That was his.
25:58
He wanted to use more of his words. Oswald Chambers this week, my utmost for utmost for his highest. When I sat down on Monday morning and doing my little devotional home screen on the computer, He said, the gospel is the reality of redemption in our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. That's good.
26:16
Now, this is what I tried to quote last week to you. If you can't communicate something in a way anyone can understand, either you don't believe it or you don't understand it. Are you with me? And so, how many of y'all tried this exercise this week or at least dwelt on it for a while? Yeah.
26:32
Okay. What's funny about this is I I told you I'm going to butcher the quote and that's what I was trying to quote right there. That's the phrase that I saw. Actually, that's not even CS Lewis. Somebody's somebody shrunk it down for him.
26:45
This is what he said. By trying to translate our doctrines, the doctrines of the church into vulgar that is the people's common speech. We discover how much we understand them ourselves. Our failure to translate may sometimes be due to ignorance of the vernacular, which is funny, he uses vernacular instead of common language. Much more often it exposes the fact we do not know exactly what we mean.
27:08
This exercise was was designed to force you into knowing exactly what you mean. In fact, he wrote this too. Any fool can write learned language, the vernacular of the common language is a real test. If you can't turn your faith into it, then you don't understand it or you don't believe it. I like that.
27:25
So, here we go. I'm not ashamed of the gospel for it's the power of God for salvation. Everyone who believes, the Jew first and also the Greek. So, that's the homework assignment. 10 words or less but I told you, give you grace.
27:38
If you go over, try to keep it to one sentence and this is what y'all wrote. I'm not going do this every Sunday. Don't worry but for me, it was a fantastic exercise and for y'all, I I got a lot of responses. I told you, shoot for the center of the gospel as best you can. It's going to come out and your personality is probably going to show because you've experienced this yourself but shoot for the sinner and with that, I'll start with the Wickliffe, good old Wickliffe, Bible Encyclopedia.
28:04
The central truth of the gospel is that God has provided a way of salvation for men through the gift of his son to the world. He suffered as a sacrifice for sin, overcame death, now offers a share in his triumph to all who will accept it. The gospel is good news because it is a gift of God, not something that must be earned by penance or self improvement. I like that. I read a thousand different definitions this week.
28:29
This one came from a book that I'm reading that in about the fifth chapter, his brother was missionary. He was he's a songwriter and he had been expressing things and all of a sudden, I think he thought, you know what? For people who read in this book, they have no idea what the gospel is. I better define it. So he says, the gospel, the message concerning Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God, the non fiction story through which humanity is rescued from its brokenness and returned to intimacy with God.
28:57
Succinct. One sentence, even though he did use a semicolon, it's not 10 but that's from Allen Levi in the last Sweet Miles. Best book I've read lately. Of course, outside the Bible, don't want to sound like Donald Trump but anyway, what is the gospel in 10 words or less? A lot of you sent Jesus.
29:17
Just one word. Can't think of anything else, Jesus. Amen. And then, one guy I know, Jesus man. Alright?
29:25
Jesus man and I am going to use these anonymously. I know that some of you will recognize some of them. Carl's is pretty obvious. And there are few others that are fairly obvious. But God, that one came up a couple of different times too.
29:39
Referring to all the passages in the Bible where it talked about the die, dying, death, and destruction, and horrible mess that we had made but God. Deliver Noah but God brings us in the marvelous light. Amen. But God. Jesus offers rest.
29:56
Amen. Three words. Jesus offers rest. Now, it certainly begs more questions. How exactly does he do that?
30:05
Salvation, forgiveness, relationship. Three words. This is what a couple of y'all expressed to me. One person sent a picture. This is her sheet where she was trying to work it out.
30:18
And this is what she circled. At the cross, Jesus reconciled holy God and sinful man. Amen. This is her husband who stole most of her work. Jesus resurrection reconciles holy God and sinful people who believe.
30:34
Amen. You see there are some subtleties there, right? There are some subtleties and it comes to, I've gotta hold on to who believe. You know, faith in Jesus is enough to be forgiven and received. Amen.
30:48
They thought about it for a few minutes and sent this one. Faith in Jesus is enough to be forgiven and transformed. Amen. Accepted into God's family but he doesn't stop there and the gospel doesn't stop there. It continues to transform our lives.
31:01
God's gift of reconciliation offered to humanity. That's an open gift. It's out there. It's been offered but hasn't been received. God's love, his son, for redemption, our gift to heaven.
31:16
Some of you wax poetic. That one was on a little slip of paper and that's the way it was written. God's living words inspired and transposed into human hands. Christ died so that we may live, might live. So that.
31:35
I love us so that. When you're reading through the Bible, can you agree with me, bud? You read through the Bible and you hit us so that, you don't have to guess. It's so that so that we might live. Christ died.
31:44
Amen. The only way to become right with God. It tells less about what it is but it does point to there's an exclusivity to the gospel. It's the only way. It's offensive actually.
31:57
Jesus said that. He said, it was offensive. The exclusivity of it is. God's righteous wrath shall be averted pleading Christ's death alone. Amen.
32:09
I did a lot of crying this week actually. Choose God's grace through Jesus or default to God's punishment and then she followed it up with this. This maybe more appropriate for a Jude twenty three three rescue than an elevator conversation. Jude 23 says, save others, snatching them out of the fire. The truth about God's plan of salvation for believers.
32:37
That's the gospel. Al and Levi, again, I can't help but that book's been great. Being deeply flawed and conscious of it but being deeply forgiven and conscious of that too. That's a personal experience of the gospel. Acceptance of undeserved blessings and atonement for yesterday, today, and forever.
32:58
He uses an ampersand thinking we wouldn't notice that that's a word. I like that one too. Christ's perfect life, sacrificial death, and glorious resurrection affords opportunity for a positive eternity for all who are willing to accept it. Amen. Wordy but true.
33:18
Peace with God on his terms. I like that one. Unconditional surrender is required. Individuals can have peace with God through Jesus atoning death. Amen.
33:35
There's a theme here, people. Salvation is by faith alone and Christ alone. Amen. Just relax. That person comes from a background of a works based religion and she'd been working for so long.
33:52
Faith alone in Christ alone. Just like for Luther. Just like for so many sins. Just relax. Cleanse by God through faith in Jesus.
34:04
Christ lived, loved, died, and rose for our salvation. Jesus perfect life for our imperfect ones. The gospel is not something man does rather it is something that God has done for us. Gospel is the only way to be right with God. Christ died so that we might live.
34:27
He doubled up. The message of eternal life through the cross. God's grace saves us from ourselves. God's son, the path to grace saves us from ourselves. I saw a lot of rewrites this week too.
34:48
I love that. God's love never ends. Jesus died so believers won't perish. Jesus Christ gave his life to save ours from sin. God's message of love and forgiveness available in Christ.
35:03
My professor and mine too in Christ alone. Exclusivity is there. It really is. Jesus loves ragamuffins. He died to save them and empowers them.
35:18
Amen. Lord and savior, Christ is God. He died to redeem our sins. Jesus, father's final sacrifice, making dead alive, empowering through humility. Because of his love for us and through the gift of his son, Jesus Christ, God has bound us together with himself for eternity.
35:42
Jesus his birth, life, crucifixion, and ascension. That's the gospel. Jesus, he died on the cross for my sins even though I constantly fall short. I picked this one from the middle of a paragraph. Beautiful.
35:58
That's the sentiment of the whole paragraph though. He died on the cross for my sins even though I constantly fall short. I was dead, now alive, lost, but now found. Luke fifteen twenty three. Taken off of Lazarus.
36:14
God establishes moral reasoning, righteousness is attained by God's redemption. And I got a lot of acrostics too. Acrostics were popular this week. God offers a savior to all providing believers eternal life. God's only son provides eternal life.
36:32
Grace offered sacrifice promised, eternal love. God's riches at Christ expense. That's my brother's. He loves that one. Sin condemns hopeless mankind.
36:46
This is miss italics right here. She sent her things in italics. Sin condemns hopeless mankind. God lovingly redeems all who believe. Jesus, God, offers his righteousness redeeming us from sin's condemnation.
37:02
And then expanded a bit. Sin, the condemning debt we all carry could only be paid by God through Jesus who freely offers eternal life and transformation to all who believe. Y'all are getting this? Are you getting it? I know that it's not straight up like word for word scripture this week but Paul says, I'm not ashamed of the gospel and doesn't explain it right there.
37:22
What he means? So, y'all are explaining what he means. Promise for a beautiful eternity with our savior. Amen. Justified by faith in Christ, people have peace with God.
37:34
There's a lot about peace with God in here. Alright, so my pull up on the curb yesterday and he said, I'm wrestling with Matthew. We haven't gotten to the cross yet. We haven't gotten deep into Jesus ministry yet. He's only called three of his disciples at this point and he says the word gospel and it throws me.
37:51
What is the gospel? I said, peace with God. He said, thank you and he pulled off. I've been thinking about this all week. I like this one.
38:03
War is over if you want it. I asked Pascal. She's not anonymous. Sorry. I'm going to embarrass her maybe.
38:12
I asked Pascal and she went, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self control. She was counting. She said, I want
38:20
to know whether I need to
38:21
leave the and in there. And I said, well, that's what works out of the gospel, right? I I see that but that's not the gospel, is it? And she said, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Jesus, y'all y'all preach for a while.
38:36
Sorry. It's ridiculous. I wanna works. I wanna works, people. That's Acts sixteen thirty one.
38:47
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Damnable as mankind is, God in Christ provides a way out. Through Christ's undeserved death, God forgives sins of anyone willing. Consenting to his undeserved death. For those he loves, Christ obeyed.
39:11
God is good. This is Jerry. Three sentences and 10 words. God is good. He really loves you.
39:17
Accept that truth. God is good. The whole message of the Bible right there. God is good. You want to pronounce that for me?
39:37
Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all who believe in him. Amen. Amen. To pay the penalty for every acknowledged sin, Christ died. Question, I hadn't had a question yet.
39:51
Since Jesus paid for me, shouldn't I give my all? Jesus paid it forward. Are you thankful? Turning it on from inside to outside and then, the love of God expressed through Christ for my eternity and he said, that one's my favorite. Oh, that's since Jesus paid for me.
40:12
Shouldn't I owe him everything? That was the same fellow. I love this line from a song we sang last week in the second service and and the vilest offender who truly believes that moment from Jesus, a pardon receives. I love that. Jesus offers rest.
40:28
It comes up again probably because I forgot to delete the first one. Christ died for our sins, buried, raised, seen, and that one is a reference to a passage we covered not too long ago in Corinthians. Actually, she said, if I had more words, I'd say this, the gospel by which you are saved, Christ died for our sins. He was buried. That's proof he died.
40:57
He rose again and he was seen. That's proof he lives. That's from first Corinthians fifteen three through five. Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures and that he appeared to Cephas then the 12 and then the more. Somebody sent in.
41:17
She said, it's one word and I thought, well, it's going to be Jesus. No. Truth. In the society that we live in today, the gospel, people have heard, you know, believe in Jesus Christ. They've seen bumper stickers.
41:28
They they know what the Christian message is. I think for the most part but they don't believe it's true. And actually, I like the rest of the letter and I'm going to share it. Hi, Ray. I've been thinking about this all day.
41:42
Praise God and with all the turmoil, dishonesty, fear, and evil, only one word speaks to me, truth and she obviously has a residual knowledge of scripture and understands what Christ did but the fact that it's truth is what makes a difference. That's the center right there. It's true. Y'all have seen people hitting all around the center and choosing a different side of the gospel, a different aspect. This is funny to me.
42:11
This is a second service guy. He met me at the front and said, I can't do it. I said, I know you can't. We talk every Sunday after the sermon's over and he said, I'm going to do, he said, I'll send it to you. So, he sent it to me and it was on a one page piece of paper and this is his, this is the assignment but he offers an apology that's longer than that.
42:32
I'm going to read it to you. A compact statement of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The purpose of this exercise is to state the essential components of the gospel with brevity and clarity. To that end, it will be stated in the second person as if receiving, as if presenting to an unbeliever, it should be noted that this is an exercise only and it should not be simply regurgitated to an unbeliever as written below. The gospel here is stated in terms of one, God's eternal plan and provision to reconcile unbelieving human being with himself.
43:01
Two, the unbelievers volitional responsibility to accept or reject it and three, God's forensic promise to the new believer. In spite of the fact that the gospel is the seed of the word of God and that Jesus Christ is the priority and sovereignty of all creation. A clear and concise definition of the gospel in scripture seems elusive. Most agree that the gospel is embedded throughout the whole Bible but for this exercise, two scriptural guideposts were used. John three sixteen through twenty one and first Corinthians fifteen three through eight which we just saw.
43:32
So, he says, man's salvation, the forensic gospel and the just the title alone, he's pushing the limits. God's plan and provision. Jesus Christ is the incarnate son of God. He died on the cross in your place and became the righteous payment, a ransom that you cannot pay for your unrighteousness which is condemning you before God. Semicolon.
43:54
Furthermore, Christ was buried, resurrected, witnessed by many, and ascended to heaven where he currently intercedes on your behalf. Amen. That's good. He has thoroughly considered this for many years and he has tried to shrink it down to its irreducible minimum. He's not good at elevator talk.
44:14
Your responsibility in God's promise. If you choose to believe or trust in these provisions, then God promises your removal from condemnation and you will immediately possess eternal new life. Amen. And this is what he put in the email he sent this on. Clarity and accuracy trumps brevity.
44:38
That's why we have 16 chapters of Romans. First John five twelve, he who has the son has life. He who does not have the son does not have life. John three sixteen. I had several that just sent it in and said, I can't do any better than that.
44:56
I know it's 24 words. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Somebody sent John thirteen sixteen. Didn't make any sense. I think he meant John three sixteen.
45:14
God is good. Now, get to Romans one seventeen. For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed. So, in all of that that y'all just saw and these are your words and mine. For in it, the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith.
45:33
Out of faith into faith, literally, out of faith into faith in the Greek. For in it, the righteousness of God or God's righteousness is revealed out of faith into faith. Just as it is written, but the righteous man shall live by faith. I'm gonna break that down a minute. I absolutely believe in justification by faith.
45:56
This was the big lever that the whole reformation got going on was Romans. Paul understood for the first time that justification was by faith. And this passage is really, really interesting grammatically and throughout the history of the church and I told you the other day that there is the social gospel and that there's the priority of proclamation last Sunday or the Sunday before and that was kind of a split in the church and usually when we find major splits that persist in the church, there's a line of thinking that they're following. That can be traced back to a scriptural interpretation difficulty. I love that.
46:38
This one can be taken either way. So, I I translated it with the word order as it is in the Greek just as that as it has been written. So, that's Old Testament from Habakkuk two four if you want to know where it is but the righteous by faith shall live. Look at that for a minute. Dwell on it.
46:57
You've been looking at 10 word statements all week but the righteous by faith shall live. Seven words, Six in Greek by faith can go either way. It can go with but the righteous by faith shall live and a lot of y'all pointed that out in your gospel presentation. Whoever is righteous from faith, they believe God and it's counted to them for righteousness. The righteous by faith shall live.
47:27
That's eternal life. It's abundant life now. Stretching into heaven. Eternal life. The righteous by faith shall live but it can also go this way.
47:39
Just as it has been written but the righteous by faith shall live. Does that make a difference to you? We go back again? Flip it. But the righteous by faith shall live.
47:54
So, that's the people who are righteous because of their faith shall live. Eternally, they shall live from this point on, declared righteous by God and into eternity have a positive experience but it also is this way. They shall live by faith. Does that make sense? I straighten the word order in English might might might help a little bit but it can go either way.
48:17
It's the righteous by faith because God said, whoever believes me, believes this gospel, has it. Not that you deserve it anymore. He's giving it to you because you believe him. But this way is once you have believed it, righteous one, declared righteous by God. You shall live it out.
48:40
You shall live out that faith that you have. The faith in God's goodness and in his grace. Amen. Amen. So, there's homework assignment this week.
48:49
How will you live out the gospel this week? Whatever you put on your little piece of paper or would have if you had, how will you live that out this week? And how will your life reveal God's righteousness? This is one more I had left. Letting go and letting God, people say that all the time and it's irritating.
49:15
Let go and let God.
49:16
If you know what that means, then yeah, it's good. It is true. But letting go of your sin, what you're holding on to, lets God forgive it. It actually lets God transform you too when you let go of your sin. Jesus paid it all.
49:32
I want to flip back to that verse. Sorry. I can't get back from there. Can you go back to the one seventeen for just a second, Blake? Maybe?
49:47
Alright. This one right here. For in it, God's righteousness, the righteousness of God, just like the gospel of God, God's gospel. For in it, the gospel, God's righteousness is revealed out of your faith into the faith of others. Okay?
50:05
If you're living it out, it's out of faith into faith. Just as as it is written, the righteous by faith shall live or the righteous. Thy faith shall live. You got it? Alright.
50:18
So, the homework assignment and we will stand together if you would and I'll invite the band back up. That's two weeks in a row. We've been short on time, okay? Because it had been a month before that and I had been over. Would you stand with me?
50:34
I thank you for responding this week because it just fills my heart with joy to see that y'all know what you're talking about. You listen well and you obviously express yourselves well and go and do it. Would you stand with us? Let's sing.
50:52
So the question was, can this be 12 words or less?
50:57
The song?
50:58
No. No. No. No. To live it out.
51:00
Of the assignment.
51:01
It cannot be 12 words or less. Volume. And it speaks all the time. And people reading it all the time. So no, it cannot be 12
51:08
or 13. Don't email you
51:09
this You can email me if you want to. Okay.
51:11
Yeah. That I'm that student. Can you be more specific?
51:17
I and I wanna say, I know a lot of y'all are that student because I said, bring it on a piece of paper and some of y'all did because I didn't say Email it last week. They sent out an Email that said, Email it. It doesn't matter to me. Just just having you think about it sometimes. Amen.
51:33
I hear the savior say. I hear the savior say thy strength indeed is small child of weakness watching me find in me
54:37
Now, to him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ. According to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for many ages past. Has it been kept secret for you? If it has, you heard it over and over and over and over and over and over again today. It's now being manifested by the scriptures of the prophets according to the commandment of the eternal God.
54:59
It has been made known to all nations, leading to obedience of faith, to the only wise God through Jesus Christ be glory forever. Amen.
