In one paragraph

Scott Eichen brought the Mother's Day message at First B Jackson, speaking from Mark 16 on the resurrection and the Great Commission. He shared that because Jesus is passionate about reaching lost people, his followers must be too. He also shared news that his family is preparing to help plant a church in Littleton, Colorado. Scott opened by noting that people get passionate about all kinds of...

Talk about it

  1. Scott shared that his son Seth was nearly in tears over a forgotten movie and a bracelet, and used that to point out how passionate we get about small things. What is something you find yourself genuinely passionate about, and how does that compare to how passionate you are about sharing the gospel?
  2. The women who came to the tomb were trembling and bewildered, and the disciples refused to believe those who had seen the risen Jesus. Why do you think it was so hard for the people closest to Jesus to believe, and where do you see that same struggle in yourself?
  3. Scott read from Mark 16 that Jesus told his disciples to go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to everyone, and then pointed out that this command now falls on us. What does contributing to that call actually look like in your everyday life right now?
  4. Scott described a neighborhood in Littleton where over 90 percent of roughly 30,000 people are unchurched, and said there is only one evangelical church for every 7,000 people there. How does a number like that change the way you think about the urgency of church planting and missions?
  5. Scott asked the room to think about what First B has meant to their own walk with God, then asked what would have happened if no one had ever started this church. Who in your life might one day look back and thank God that someone was willing to go?
