Watch or read it

In one paragraph

This service walked the congregation through the whole story of Jesus, from the announcement of his birth to his resurrection. It was presented largely as a dramatic production, with actors, narration, and music carrying the message. The spoken teaching wove scripture into the performance to anchor what the drama was showing. The message opened with the promise God had been building toward through...

Read together

  1. Galatians 4 quoted to introduce the fullness of time when God sent His Son, born of a woman, to redeem those under the law
  2. 1 Peter 3:18 quoted to explain that Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God
  3. John 20:18 quoted as Mary Magdalene telling the disciples she had seen the Lord
  4. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 quoted in the closing blessing about the Lord comforting and strengthening us in every good thing

Talk about it

  1. Galatians 4 says that God sent His Son 'when the time had fully come.' What does it mean to you that God works on His own timeline, and how have you seen that in your own life?
  2. The sermon presented Mary's response to the angel as simple trust: 'Then that means I am God's servant.' What makes that kind of surrender easy to say but hard to live out?
  3. 1 Peter 3:18 says Christ died 'the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.' The sermon described His death as 'simply our doorway to heaven.' How does that image land with you, and what does it change about how you think of the cross?
  4. Mary Magdalene went from grief to proclamation in a matter of hours. What was it that moved her, and what tends to hold us back from sharing news we genuinely believe is true?
  5. The sermon ended with the reminder that the news of Jesus has traveled through centuries and 'now it has reached us here today.' Who passed that news on to you, and who might be waiting to hear it from you?
