What does First B Jackson teach about forgiveness of sin?
Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At First B Jackson, the teaching on forgiveness of sin starts with what God has already done. In the message "He Is Indeed in First Place," Pastor Josh worked through Colossians 1:13-14, where Paul describes God rescuing believers out of the domain of darkness and transferring them into the kingdom of His beloved Son. That transfer, Josh explained, is exactly where redemption lives, and redemption is the forgiveness of sins. The weight of that is hard to overstate. As he put it plainly, "Every sin that has ever been committed will either be justly condemned or mercifully forgiven." There is no third option.
The message "Once for All Time" traced the same truth through the book of Hebrews. Pastor Nathan showed the congregation how the entire old covenant system of priests, tabernacle, and animal sacrifice was always pointing toward something it could not itself accomplish. Those sacrifices had to be repeated because they were never finished. They reminded people of sin but could not remove it. Christ entered a different holy place entirely, offered His own blood once, and sat down. The old priests stood every day because the work was never done. Christ sat down because it was. Hebrews grounds this in Old Testament voices, quoting Psalm 40 as Christ telling the Father that He had come to offer a body where animal sacrifice had fallen short, and Jeremiah 31 as the Holy Spirit's own testimony that in the new covenant sins would be remembered no more.
Together these messages present forgiveness not as something a person earns or maintains through religious effort but as something secured entirely by Christ and received by faith. Nathan pointed the congregation toward the Lord's Supper as the place where that once-for-all sacrifice is remembered and proclaimed. Josh pressed the personal question: Jesus is preeminent, but is He first place in your life? Both pastors land in the same place, that what a person does with Jesus determines everything.
