What does First B Jackson teach about healing?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on healing keeps returning to a question Jesus asked a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years: do you actually want to get well? Pastor Nathan and Ray both spent real time on that question when they worked through John 5:1-18, and they both made the same point: the question is harder than it sounds. Something that has been part of your life for a long time can become part of how you understand yourself, and real readiness to be healed means being willing to let that go.

The man at the pool of Bethesda did not answer Jesus with a clean yes. He listed reasons he had not been healed yet, which Ray read as both an excuse and an honest admission of helplessness. Jesus treated it as a yes anyway and gave a command: rise, take up your pallet, and walk. The man obeyed immediately. That exchange is where the teaching lands: healing begins with honesty about your condition, not with having everything figured out or having enough faith already stored up.

Pastor Blake drew out the same thread from Mark 9, where a father brings his demon-possessed son to Jesus and says 'help us if you can.' Jesus pushes back on that 'if,' but the father's next words are what the sermon held onto: 'I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief.' Blake was careful to say that faith is not something a person produces by trying harder. He called it God's divine persuasion, always a gift, and said the way to receive more of it is exactly what that father did: yield, admit the lack, and ask God to supply what is missing. The patience Jesus showed in that moment, moving straight to heal the boy even after rebuking the crowd's faithlessness, is itself part of what the text is showing about who He is.
