What does First B Jackson teach about patience of god?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First Baptist Jackson, the teaching on God's patience starts with a plain observation: every day that Christ has not yet returned is evidence of that patience, and that patience has a purpose. Pastor Blake, working through 2 Peter 3, made the point directly that the scoffers who look at the delay and conclude nothing is coming are ignoring the same thing they always ignore, that God has already intervened in judgment once and has promised to do so again. The delay is not indifference. It is God actively giving people time to choose.

Pastor Ray carried that same thread to the close of the series, grounding it in Peter's words that the Lord's patience means salvation. He put it simply: Scripture presents only two options, perish or repent, and God is holding the door open. Ray connected this to a larger picture of what salvation actually is, not a single moment but a whole process, God taking something bound for the junkyard and working through the full restoration. Being saved means being taken in and then being taken through, with God doing the work as a person keeps submitting their will to Him.

The patience of God is never treated at First Baptist Jackson as softness toward evil. Pastor Ramon, preaching through Nahum, held the two halves of Exodus 34 together: God is merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Both are true at once. God's patience toward those who take refuge in Him does not cancel His justice toward those who do not. The same character that makes Him a stronghold for His people makes the reckoning certain for those who refuse Him.

Taught from 2 Peter 3:1-9 · 2 Peter 3:14-18 · Exodus 34 · Nahum 1:3 · Nahum 1:7

The passage taught · Exodus 34

1 Yahweh said to Moses, “Chisel two stone tablets like the first. I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.

2 Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain.

3 No one shall come up with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain. Do not let the flocks or herds graze in front of that mountain.”

4 He chiseled two tablets of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as Yahweh had commanded him, and took in his hand two stone tablets.
