What does First B Jackson teach about persistence in prayer?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on persistence in prayer is grounded in Luke 11, specifically the parable Jesus tells immediately after giving his disciples the Lord's Prayer. Both Ray and Pastor Billy worked through the same passage on the same date, each showing that Jesus did not leave the prayer hanging in the air. He followed it directly with a story about a man who goes to a neighbor's door at midnight, asking to borrow three loaves of bread for an unexpected guest. The neighbor refuses at first, but the man keeps knocking. Jesus says the man gets what he needs not simply because of friendship, but because of his shamelessness.

That word gets careful attention in both messages. The Greek word translated as shamelessness appears only once in the entire New Testament, right there in Luke 11:8. It means a shameless persistence, an unembarrassed boldness that is not stopped by human fears, even when others might think you have gone too far. Pastor Billy connected it to Job, who kept crying out to God even when the people around him told him to stop. The man knocking at midnight was not trying to look good or protect his reputation. He was trying to serve his guest, and he did not care how he appeared. That quality, the teaching holds, is exactly what Jesus is commending to his followers in prayer.

The passage then moves from a friend-and-friend picture to a father-and-child one. If a child asks for a fish, no father hands him a snake. If a child asks for an egg, no father hands him a scorpion. The children in the story are asking for daily staples, nothing extravagant, which mirrors the kind of asking the Lord's Prayer itself models. The point, as both teachers drew it out, is that God is not a reluctant neighbor who needs to be worn down. He is a Father who gives good things. The shameless persistence Jesus commends is not about overcoming God's reluctance. It is the posture of someone who genuinely believes God is good and keeps coming back to him on that basis.
