What does First B Jackson teach about remnant?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on the remnant starts with God's own faithfulness. Across several messages, the consistent claim is that there has always been a remnant of God's people, and that remnant exists not because of ethnic heritage, merit, or personal endurance, but because God keeps them by grace. Pastor Eric made this point from Romans 11 by pressing on the Elijah story: Elijah believed he was the only faithful one left, and God answered him by saying seven thousand had never bowed the knee to Baal. The sovereignty in that belongs entirely to God, and it is meant to be humbling.

Becca, teaching through the same chapter, grounded the remnant in covenant before anything else. She traced the thread from Genesis 3 through the one-sided covenant God made with Abraham in Genesis 15, where God alone walked between the pieces while Abraham slept. That covenant-keeping character is the ground on which the remnant stands. Israel, the natural branches, was not cast away permanently; the hardening is partial and for a time, lasting until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. The warning that came with all of this was direct: the same God who did not spare the natural branches will not spare the grafted ones if they do not continue in faith.

Deborah, teaching in the days after the October 7 Hamas attacks, brought the remnant question into a moment of immediate crisis. Drawing from Ezekiel 9, she pointed to God's command to mark those in the city who were genuinely grieving over evil, and to protect them. That grief, she said, is the mark of the remnant. From the story of Esther and Mordecai she drew out three qualities the remnant carries into a crisis: preparation, because Mordecai was already spiritually ready when the moment arrived; action, because Esther made a plan, called her community to fast and pray, and then moved; and a willingness to accept that their position of influence existed for a purpose larger than themselves.

The passage taught · 2 Corinthians 5

1 For we know that if the earthly house of our tent is dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.

2 For most certainly in this we groan, longing to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven;

3 if so be that being clothed we will not be found naked.

4 For indeed we who are in this tent do groan, being burdened; not that we desire to be unclothed, but that we desire to be clothed, that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
