What does First B Jackson teach about sign of jonah?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on the sign of Jonah starts with the moment the scribes and Pharisees demanded a sign from Jesus, even after watching a blind and mute man healed right in front of them. Pastor Carl pointed out that their request was not a sincere search for evidence. Jesus named it for what it was: the posture of an evil and adulterous generation, more interested in forcing God to perform than in responding to him in faith. No sign would ever be enough for a heart that had already closed itself off.

The one sign Jesus did offer pointed directly to himself. Just as Jonah spent three days in the great fish and was then delivered to his purpose, the Son of Man would be three days in the heart of the earth. Pastor Jason was clear that the sign of Jonah is not primarily a story about a fish. It is a picture of death, burial, and resurrection. The Ninevites who repented at Jonah's preaching, and the Queen of the South who traveled to hear Solomon's wisdom, both stand as a rebuke to anyone who hears and refuses to respond. They acted on far less than what this generation had standing right in front of them.

Carl also spent time on what Jonah's story reveals about the messenger himself. Even after obeying and seeing Nineveh repent, something in Jonah's heart remained unwilling. The sign worked because God was in the message, not because the preacher was enthusiastic about delivering it. That thread runs through the whole passage: what fills a person's heart shapes everything, what they say, what they demand, and whether they can recognize what God is actually doing when they see it.

Taught from Matthew 12:38 · Matthew 12:39-40 · Matthew 12:41 · Matthew 12:42 · Luke 6:45

The passage taught · Jeremiah 17

1 “The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond. It is engraved on the tablet of their heart, and on the horns of your altars.

2 Even their children remember their altars and their Asherah poles by the green trees on the high hills.

3 My mountain in the field, I will give your substance and all your treasures for a plunder, and your high places, because of sin, throughout all your borders.

4 You, even of yourself, will discontinue from your heritage that I gave you. I will cause you to serve your enemies in the land which you don’t know, for you have kindled a fire in my anger which will burn forever.”
