What does First B Jackson teach about sin and grace?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on sin and grace starts with an honest look at the human condition. Pastor Ray worked through Romans 3, showing that Paul's argument leaves no one with a comfortable exception. Jewish heritage, religious practice, moral effort, none of it gets a person out from under the verdict. Every soul will either be condemned justly or saved mercifully, and the ground between those two options is narrower than people tend to assume. The posture Paul calls for is the one David modeled in Psalm 51, owning the sin entirely before God rather than explaining it away.

Pastor Carl, teaching Romans 6, pressed into a tension the congregation was asked to sit with honestly: Christians are already freed from sin, and yet they still struggle to live that way. The freedom is not a goal to strain toward but a declared fact, something Paul states in the indicative mood long before he gives any command. The one imperative in the passage is to yield, not to muscle through by willpower but to follow that still small voice, doing what you know you should and not doing what you know you should not. The chapter closes with what Carl called the starkest gospel statement in the passage: the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Pastor Brian approached the same territory from a different angle, working through the account of the woman caught in adultery in John 8. The religious leaders who brought her were not interested in the law; they were interested in a trap. Brian noted that the law required the death of both parties, and only the woman had been brought. Jesus stooped and wrote in the dirt, the only place in the Gospels where he is described writing anything, and Brian connected that detail to Exodus 31, where the tablets of Sinai were described as written by the finger of God. When Jesus stood and invited anyone without sin to throw the first stone, they all left. The one person left standing who had every right to condemn her chose not to. That is where Brian lands: no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus is not a soft word about overlooking sin, it is the verdict of the only judge whose record was clean enough to speak.
