What does First B Jackson teach about who is jesus?
Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.
At First B Jackson, the teaching on who Jesus is starts with a claim that is meant to land with its full weight: Jesus is not one religious option among many, and the question of His identity is not a matter of personal preference. Across many messages, the church has worked through the same ground from different angles, showing that scripture opens with this question and keeps pressing it. Pastor Brian put it plainly when he said, "What you do with Jesus is the most important thing that you will ever do." The passages the church returns to most often, John 1, Hebrews 1, Colossians 1, and Philippians 2, all establish the same person: the one through whom everything was made, who is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His nature, who holds all things together right now by the word of His power, and who emptied Himself of His divine rights to take on flesh, die, and rise.
The phrase "image of the invisible God" in Colossians 1 has received careful attention, as has the title "firstborn of all creation," which some use to argue that Jesus is a created being. The teaching here has been consistent: firstborn carries the sense of preeminence, not birth order, and the verses that follow make the argument plain on their own, because all things were created by Him and for Him, which means He cannot simultaneously be one of those things. That same pattern runs through John 1, Hebrews 1, and Revelation 1, each placing Christ as the agent of creation at the very opening. The line "in him, all things hold together" has been pressed beyond the cosmic scale into the personal one: when Jesus is preeminent in a life or in a congregation, things hold together; when He is not, they come apart.
The question Jesus put to His own disciples at Caesarea Philippi, "But you, who do you say that I am?" has shaped how First B Jackson frames all of this for people sitting in the room. Natalie, teaching the women's Bible study, worked through the C. S. Lewis argument that a man who made the claims Jesus made was either Lord, a liar, or a lunatic, and that there is no fourth option that lets anyone call Him a great moral teacher and leave it there. The right answer to the question, as Peter demonstrated, does not come from human reasoning but from paying attention to God in humility. And the answer has stakes: Pastor Josh noted that "every sin that has ever been committed will either be justly condemned or mercifully forgiven," and that the one who condemns or forgives is the same righteous God who holds everything in existence.
