What does First B Jackson teach about pressing on?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on pressing on begins with Paul's own admission in Philippians 3 that he has not yet arrived. The call is not to a finished life but to a life in motion, moving toward Christ as the prize. Van, preaching his first Sunday morning message at First B, worked through how Paul counted every credential he had ever earned as rubbish compared to knowing Christ, and that reversal is where pressing on finds its footing. You are not pressing toward a better version of yourself; you are pressing toward a Person, and everything that once looked like gain gets reordered around Him.

Carl, preaching from the same passage, pressed the point that the race requires looking forward rather than backward. Paul had persecuted Christians before his conversion, yet he did not chain himself to that past. The reason, Carl said, is that Paul chose to live in the present of grace and forgiveness. Psalm 103:12 and Romans 8:1 both say the same thing from different angles: God is not revisiting your past sin, and so you should not be either. Pressing on means accepting that the ground behind you has already been settled.

Brad, teaching from Philippians 3:12 through 4:1, connected pressing on to the long, uneven work of sanctification. He was clear that it only begins when a person recognizes their need for a Savior, and that the measure is not weeks but years and decades. Keeping the end goal in mind, he said, is what shapes how you run. The heavenly prize is real, the race is worth finishing, and the whole community of faith is meant to run it together.

The passage taught · 1 Corinthians 15:10

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was given to me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
