What does First B Jackson teach about temptation?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, the teaching on temptation starts with a clear distinction: temptation itself is not sin, and God is never the one doing the tempting. Pastor Carl, working through James 1, traced how temptation begins not with God but with our own desires, which entice and drag us away, conceive sin, and if left to grow, lead to death. He pointed to the moment in Luke where Satan had to ask God's permission before sifting Peter, noting that even then, Jesus was already praying for Peter's faith. A failed test does not make someone a failure or unusable by God, and Peter's own story bears that out.

Natalie Yates, teaching from Matthew 4 in the Women's Bible Study, showed that the three temptations Jesus faced in the wilderness are the same three that confronted Eve in the garden: the lust of the flesh, the pride of life, and the lust of the eyes. Jesus did what Eve could not. He answered every move the enemy made with the word of God, the same word he had been filling himself with through prayer and fasting. Natalie was direct that the armor of God in Ephesians 6 is the practical answer to a fight no one can win alone.

Pastor Ray, in the 12 Steps series, returned to Matthew 4 to show that the path God leads a person on may pass through real temptation and difficulty, and that conscious contact with God through prayer is what keeps someone equipped to walk it. He also corrected a piece of folk theology that has taken deep root: the phrase "God won't put more on you than you can bear" is not what 1 Corinthians 10:13 says. That verse is specifically about temptation and sin, and the promise is that God will provide a way out, not that He calibrates the load to our strength.
