What does First B Jackson teach about communion?

Drawn from the messages where it was actually addressed: the words said from the front, the passages taught, and where to hear the whole thing.

At First B Jackson, communion tends to show up not as an isolated ritual but as the natural destination of the teaching that precedes it. In the messages where it receives the most deliberate attention, it is consistently framed as the place where honest self-examination and the new covenant meet. Pastor Carl connected the Lord's Table directly to the practice of keeping a short account with God, noting that step 10 of a continuing personal inventory and the honesty it demands belong at the same table where Jesus offered his body and blood for sinners. The point landing before any teaching began on that morning was that every person in the room is needy, every person stands on the same ground, and the good news at the table is specifically for people who know it.

Pastor Nathan came to the same place from a different angle, holding the communion table up as the contrast between the old covenant and the new: the law shows us the problem we cannot fix, and Christ's blood is the provision. In that frame, coming to the table is not a reward for having managed the week well but a confession that we could not and a receiving of what God has already made available.

Pastor Josh, preaching through Colossians 1 and Philemon, treated communion as the endpoint of everything Paul was praying for the church: that believers would be filled with wisdom, walk worthy, and be strengthened to endure with joyful patience. The Lord's Table, in that reading, is where that whole vision comes to rest, a concrete act of the community that has been declared holy and is still learning to live like it.

Taught from 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 · 1 Corinthians 11 · Colossians 1:9-14 · Romans 5:8

The passage taught · 1 John 4:9-11

9 By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.
